Russian Alpha AK

  1. My AK is a standard Russian AK-103 vertical gas block clone with fixed wooden stock & for arm.(pretty much an AKM) I like the side rail for a reflex sight as it allows for sight failure and rapid transition to irons. My next "mod" will be tritium night sights. They can keep all the Quad rails and all the rest of the "fashion statement" accessories on that SBR , as they do absolutely nothing to make that carbine ether more reliable or more accurate. Sad that the Russians have fallen to the "range Barbie syndrome" They are now "Tacticool". I guess they'll start carrying AR-15 pistols with multicam undies and red high heels next. ---Ray

Certainly, they have to keep up with us! :) By the way, what is the difference between yours and the Bulgarian AK?

    2. About 500$--That's how much less I paid for my "Izmash". Other than that the Bulgarians look pretty much the same. To quote the guy that created 'em "I made AK-47 so that any pesant boy could lift it from the soil of Mother Russia, clean it with Diesel fuel , lubricate it with crank case oil and defend the Motherland!" ---Ray

Then I guess they have gone up since I bought mine at around $650.

Actually there are stories of them being unearthed and firing without any cleaning at all. :) That's my speed.

    4. No I based that on the "Atlantic firearms" websight where they seem to average around 800-1000 USD's (the Bulgies). I paid less than 300$ for my current AK.(the Russian). The guy who sold it to me is a local "survivalist" , I still have no idea why he didn't like it anymore. I put the AKM pattern plywood (Timbersmith) on it and painted it woodland. It shoots any ammo I put in it and hits what I aim at. I wouldn't trade it for 2 AR's and a case of mags. ---Ray

    5. Agreed, you have enough to think about in a firefight without having to worry that it might jam.
