Fort Benning Police have given the “all clear” to residents in Patton Village housing area, after responding to an incident today, in which a firearm was discharged on post. At approximately 2:25 p.m., two vehicles entered post through the Sand Hill Access Control Point exit at a high rate of speed. Both vehicles’ tires were flattened by the mechanical "tiger teeth,” but the vehicles continued into the Patton Village housing area and stopped near the construction site of a new elementary school. There 3 to 5 black males exited the first vehicle and ran into the wood line.

All can say is that when I worked the gate I had a set of instructions.
ReplyDeleteThose instructions were in place and to be effected whenever the gate was manned.
"If approached by a vehicle that clearly demonstrates an unwillingness to stop at the gate, or demonstrates a willingness to avoid, or navigate through vehicle barriers at a high rate of speed, and if a clear threat to the post, personnel, or material is demonstrated, the vehicle will be engaged with all necessary force to stop the threat"
(paraphrased from 25yr old memory ;))
SO that meant, dumping at LEAST 3, 30rnd mags at the full cyclic rate (auto) PER OFFICER. There was usually 2 of us in the box with 1 or 2 in a security vehicle nearby. That gate. That gate right there... http://binged.it/1LPpJBg. Memory lane. wow :)
But, TWO CARS made it through with NO SHOTS FIRED?
Yup - shit's changed a bit since I was in.
The facepage comments are great...
"So the post is FPCON B ? Car runs thru gets disabled BUT NO GATE GUARD FIRES OR HITS THE DRIVERS OR PASSENGERS ?? Hmmmm ROE is hell these days"
But apparently these two asshats came in the *usually* closed gate... never made sense to me to have unmanned entry points on a base. Then again, my CO didn't want to hear my opinions anyway :)
ROE is hell these days"
DeleteThanks for the memories and no way in hell should anyone enlist these days.
SO, let me get this straight: 2 bogies come in the out gate hot as Hell, nobody fires at them, they penetrate all the way to base housing, weapons are found in both cars, shots fired, only 1 of at least 5 in custody. Remaining goblins on the loose, probably armed, and base security calls "all clear". Does that about cover it?
ReplyDeleteNot my army. :)
DeleteMaybe the military police fire power had no fire power. Just for looks. Bulletless.
ReplyDeleteThese days, who knows?
DeleteAnd not a word anywhere I can find since Thursday. The longer this story stays a non-story the stronger the odor of a large rodent seems to get. From time to time I have someone on the inside down there who might know more, but unfortunately not right now.
ReplyDeleteNeedless to say, we know who is giving the orders.
DeleteI found this from 12 hours ago:
