Confederate monument supporters in Portsmouth hire lawyers

Fred Taylor, a partner at Bush & Taylor P.C., said his clients "stand as the successors" to various interest groups dedicated "to hold this Monument in trust as a commission for the benefit of the descendants of all Confederate Veterans..."

"Therefore, my clients would first assert that the City Council of Portsmouth has absolutely no authority to interfere, trespass, remove, or otherwise disturb the Confederate Monument, as the City does not own the Monument," Taylor said in the letter.
