Some parents would gasp at the thought of their children playing with a toy gun, but these Russian children are actually encouraged to take up real arms.
Military sports club, 'Berkut', (meaning golden eagle), trains up young Russian, who dream of joining the elite units of the Russian army and fighting under the command of President Vladimir Putin.
A young boy is pictured on their website brandishing a hand gun and dressed in military fatigues with his finger over the trigger.

DeleteMeanwhile back in the FUSA, children are arrested and hand cuffed like common criminals if the violate a schools "zero tolerance" policies regarding weapons, no matter how asinine it is ( bringing a toy soldier, chewing a pop tart into the wrong shape or pointing a finger like a gun). There is an effort by the public education system to instill a fear of firearms into children. While on You Tube, Russian children can be seen field stripping and putting back together in a timed event an AK-47.
ReplyDeleteI remember the cold war era propaganda about how unmotivated and stupid the average Russian conscript was and how shoddy their equipment was. But lets not forget that it was the Russians who came up with THE standard by which all other assault rifles are measured against; AK-47. It was the Russians who fielded arguably the best tank in WW II; T-34. Let us not forget that we here in the FUSA do NOT have the same devotion to our country, the way the Russians do for the "Motherland".

The Russian soldier is a formidable opponent and of course the inventor of the Sturmgewehr 44 helped Kalasnikov create the AK. The T-34 was a good tank in that it could be produced easily in large numbers and some say the Germans should have stuck with one of their earlier models in order to produce more, but the big German tanks, although timely to produce, were certainly superior in any one on one and sometimes one on many confrontations.
Brock, all valid follow points made by you. Yes, had the Germans had the time to work out the technical /mechanical problems they had with their Panther, and Tiger tanks, then who fielded the better tank would be a different matter. The overall point I was trying to make was that going to war against the Russians is some thing that you want to avoid if you can. Given the things as they are now, I do think that is there is a very high chance that should the FUSA go to war with Russia, we would lose it.

DeleteI deal with truck drivers daily. Many of whom are Russian. The smallest one I've dealt with was my size, 5'10" and about 220. The biggest would have killed me quicker than I care to think about. They ain't lazy either.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure there are many quite pleasant, but the men I ran into in Vung Tau, Vietnam needed showers and only drank straight Vodka which they wanted me to share with them. :) Kinda like the rice whiskey in Vietnam which you drink straight and chase with water, but I always prefer beer after a shot or two of that stuff which comes in 60, 70 and 80 %. My friends would egg me on to keep shooting the whiskey to which I would say, I will but we all chase it with beer instead of water which brought an end to the requests. My mother-in-law would test the 80 I bought to make sure it was really that % by sticking a chopstick in the bottle and if it would light with a match, then it was deemed valid. :)
