Comment An Unarmed Teen Flashed His Brights At A Cop And Ended Up Dead

Via Jeffery

The family of an unarmed teenager shot dead by a sheriff's deputy during a Michigan traffic stop in February has filed a federal wrongful death lawsuit alleging that the officer's "entire course of action was illegal."

The lawsuit, filed Wednesday against Eaton County Sheriff's Sgt. Jonathan Frost and the county, says the officer was driving a new patrol car on Feb. 28 that had "improperly bright or misaimed headlights, even on low beams." Deven Guilford, 17, who had been driving to his girlfriend's house after playing basketball at his church, was one of three drivers to flash their brights at the officer to get him to dim his lights, the suit says. Frost stopped all three drivers.

Five minutes after Guilford was pulled over, the lawsuit says, the teen lay dead in the snow on the side of the road, struck by seven bullets. The county prosecutor said the teen fought with the deputy and was killed in "justifiable self-defense."

    1. I thought the officer was more than reasonable up until the moment he shot him.

    2. Not saying that the police officer is not at fault for his actions but you have to be realistic and accept the fact that some of these guys are on a power trip with their authority and the best you can do is give them the respect they require and get on with your life. That seems to be a problem with a lot of kids today, they should at least feign respect for their elders and authorities. It seems the Social Justice Warrior mentality prevalent among the youth depletes any common sense they may have had.

  3. I would agree that that was the kids dumbassness because he may have watched a few too many videos like this where the people were right and the cops were wrong. in this case however, kid was really stupid. However there is no reason to use deadly force. give the lad an old school crack up side the head and let his old man oick him up in the morning. Dumb ignorant kid, cop that should have used his fucking head too.

  4. Kontempt of Kop - a crime so heinous, it is punishable by summary execution in the field.

At least the boy didn't die on his knees, begging and screaming.
