Amos & Andy: Anatomy of a Controversy

2 comments:

  1. Perhaps it is or was just me, but I grew up watching Amos and Andy. Maybe it was my naivety, but I never considered they denigrated blacks any more then Jackie Gleason denigrated bus drivers. It was simply comedy and funny as hell. Looking back, I thought as much about Amos and Andy, as I did Laurel and Hardy, or Martin and Lewis. It is a sad commentary on today, when people imagine racism into a comedy team that was never there. Too many people looking to be offended.
