Republicans pushed through the House Wednesday a bill sponsored by Rep. Richard Hudson of North Carolina’s 8th District that would make it easier for gun owners to legally carry concealed weapons across state lines, the first significant action on guns in Congress since mass shootings in Nevada and Texas killed more than 80 people.

The House approved the bill, 231-198, largely along party lines. Six Democrats voted yes, while 14 Republicans voted no.

  1. Don't get your hopes up. The Senate will squash it or water it down. I won't get excited until it goes to President Trump's desk for signature

  2. So a national gun owner registry is a GOOD idea? Because this law is set up with "fix NICS" to build exactly that. A FEDERAL CCID based on the federal CDL. I.E. A Universal handgun registry; and once they get that.... This is the slickest gun grab yet. Not only will it pass, but it will be signed and BANG! The grab will be on, based on the flimsiest of pretext. This will be "No fly No buy" writ large.---Ray

    1. I assume the Feds can already access everything the states have.

    2. No. They need a warrant or court order for state CC gun records NOW. NICS is purged within 72hr. under federal law and the whole thing is run by the courts. That all go's away under this new law and record keeping becomes mandatory, as does enforcement. It is in fact nothing less than federal gun licensure and registration. With a federal handgun " Mandatory license to own, carry or buy or sell" rider waiting in the senate.....and the "Gunnies" have swallowed it whole. This is the "patriot act" for hand guns. IMO. Within 30 days of passage 25% of gun owners will be ruled ineligible to own firearms or ammo and the "great confiscation" will be on with a violence not seen since WACO--Ray
