(R) Ben Sasse rips Trump after he said, 'take the guns first, go through due process second'

Trump is going down a dangerous road.

Sen. Ben Sasse questioned President Trump's ability to be a "strong" leader after the commander in chief suggested Wednesday that he's open to confiscating guns from dangerous people and worrying about due process "second."

“Strong leaders don't automatically agree with the last thing that was said to them," the Republican senator from Nebraska said in a brief statement. "We have the Second Amendment and due process of law for a reason. We're not ditching any Constitutional protections simply because the last person the President talked to today doesn’t like them."

  1. "Confiscation first and due process second?" I like Mr. Trump, I voted for Mr. Trump, but there are times when he scares the hell out of me.

  2. Sigh, here we go again. This is what the third or fourth time, President Trump, has done this. Been accused of betraying his base. Just a couple of months ago. The same thing, headlines, "Trump, betrayed his base on DACA," "Trump, caves to democrats on DACA," and dozens of others. And when the dust settled. Democrats look like the fools, where they got less than nothing, and President Trump got everything he wanted.

Think about what he just did. By making that statement, all the media and democrats, have no reply. There is nothing they can attack with. It leaves them standing there looking dumb. Of all the beliefs President Trump has expounded, his firm belief in the 2nd amendment has always been very strong.

I’m not saying it cannot happen, but I’ll believe it only when it does. Since President Trump was elected, all we have heard from the media and democrats, how stupid he is. And yet at every confrontation, he wins, and they look like idiots, but continue to say how stupid he is.

    2. Not only do I sincerely hope you are 100% correct, I can "almost" assure you that you are, in fact 100% right on the spot.

It's blatantly obvious how ignorant and easily duped the biased media has (and always has been) become.

      Just watch what happens...!

    3. Chess and checkers. He pulled something on the press before which made utter fools of them but I can't remember what it was now for some reason.

  3. take the firearms first, and then go to court,’ Trump responded.”
I'd much preferred - get rid of DACA and all the illegal
immigrants and then go to court.

  4. Pretty sure you'll see Trump walk this statement back. It's exactly what gun owners fear from Democrats. Hopefully we won't need to fear Republicans.
