It just depended on where you were sent, as in all wars, there were many more in support than those actually fighting. I had awards for: girls, French/Vietnamese food, booze and grass..........:)I have ceaseless admiration for those who actually fought. An amazing picture and the first I have seen it along with another a few days ago.
Good question and I went to Vietnam 25 Sept '67 and was probably still at the 90th Replacement Division a short walk from USARV Headquarters or had just been picked up by HQ. Here's a link that says more. :) Thanks. http://www.namsouth.com/viewtopic.php?t=270
