The Russians Have Landed Planes Full Of Troops, Military Advisers In Venezuela

Venezuela's President Nicolas Maduro speaks during a press conference, where he warned the Lima Group that he would take energetic measures if they do not rectify their position on Venezuela in 48 hours, on the eve of assuming a new six-year mandate.

Two Russian Air Force planes carrying around 100 members of the Russian military and a handful of strategic advisers landed in Caracas, Venezuela, Saturday, in a shockingly overt demonstration of support from Vladimir Putin's government for embattled socialist president Nicolas Maduro.

  1. I'm not so sure this much more than posturing to cover for Maduro deciding his palace guard might not be as reliable as he thought. Bring in what are essentially paid mercenaries is an old and familiar tactic in collapsing corrupt governments. Beyond that how much of that 80 tons of gold went back to Moscow?
