Atlantic Writer David Frum Makes Case for Self-Disarmament (Damn, if that don't take the cake)

Most anti-gun activists are content to disarm law-abiding Americans through the legislatures and the courts. Ban schemes, confiscation campaigns, and “buy back” crusades are the tools of their trade, and they’ve used these unconstitutional laws and strategies to great effect in states across the country.

But Atlantic writer David Frum has a better idea. What if, instead of taking America’s guns by force, we convince gun owners to give up their guns willingly? Rather than disarmament, Frum suggests self-disarmament.

The idea might sound laughable, but as Frum points out, campaigns targeting drunk drivers have done much in the last 40 years to stigmatize driving drunk. Never mind that driving drunk is irresponsible while the right to own a gun is enshrined in our nation’s founding document. Frum wants a cultural revolution, and he believes he has the data to justify it.

The hoplophobe fears and, yes, hates us, because we are not afraid. We are overwhelmingly "other" than he, and in a way that emphasizes his afflictions."

  4. Nothing says contempt more than writing "supposedly law-abiding gunowners." This man is clearly not trying to convince anyone except those who already want gun confiscation and therefore don''t have firearms themselves. Otherwise, this is just a backhanded way to insult and denigrate those he disagrees with, while virtue signalling for the bulk of The Atlantic readership. What a weenie. What a total beta male weenie.

  5. Oh by the way. Wikipedia data tells us: "Canadian born David Frum formerly served on the board of directors of the Republican Jewish Coalition".
