Taiwan x 2: US Air Force Innovation Turns C-17s Into Aerial Missile Silos + Defense Ministry: China Capable of ‘Full Scale’ Invasion by 2025

Air Force Innovation Turns Lumbering C-17s Into Devastating Aerial Missile Silo

The Air Force is testing a plan to parachute pallets loaded with cruise missiles out of cargo planes, according to The Washington Times.

It’s an ingenious — and cost-cutting — way to potentially defend Taiwan from invading Chinese vessels.

“We’re talking about the need to deliver on the order of 1,000 or more anti-ship missiles into a highly contested battle space,” David Ochmanek, a research analyst, said.

“That’s a pretty demanding criteria,” he noted. “The targets of greatest interest in the opening phase of that war are moving — they’re ships.”

  1. I am surprised that the article did not mention re-purposing 747s to carry cruise missiles.

A great many 747s have been taken out of service now, but they are perfectly suited to be cheaply adapted to carry cruise missiles, according to an article I read on some web site in the last couple of weeks.

One 747 would be able to carry up to 87 cruise missiles on rails inside the fuselage and could be fired automatically, per the article. The conversion of 747s now sitting in boneyards would be quick and relatively inexpensive. Imagine cruise missiles being fired as if from a Gatling Gun. Game changer!

    1. So I assume the 747's can carry more than the two mentioned?

  2. Here's the article: https://www.sandboxx.us/blog/americas-plan-to-build-747-arsenal-ships-packed-with-cruise-missiles/

I see that the 747 can "only" carry 72 cruise missiles, not the 86 I mentioned.

    1. Thanks and I didn't realize it was bigger than a C-5A

  3. Lets just get both the C-17 and the 747 into service. Firepower wins wars.

  4. a -- Does this protect our electric grid from sleepers?
b -- Is somebody planning the next 'war' based on information from 1938?
c -- How easily could sleepers infect millions of inner-city 'vectors' with contaminated drugs?

(After the electric grid collapse, research indicates millions of dead Americans each week for months. The potential for catastrophic pestilence is mind-boggling.)
(Brilliant mimics with limited innovation abilities, what could the chinese learn from American responses to the S.A.R.S.-CoV2 hoax?)

      It will be dicey.

  5. Taiwan should have been importing cruise missiles and other hardware for a long time already. Waiting till things get hot means things will go wrong. Realistically the only way Taiwan survives a PLA assault is by nuking Beijing etc. on day one. Because Taiwan has no chance to survive a conventional conflict. They are outnumbered more than 10 to 1.

  6. So now the DoD wants to deliver pallets of cruise missiles to China? Is it similar to delivering pallets of cash to Iran and shipping containers packed with M-4's to the Taliban?
