Via Periosity2 "One woke son-in-law is in the process of getting rid of his iphone, looking for a more dumb phone. In 2022 the 2G and 3G cell tower service will be gradually shut down and most lower ability cell phones will become paperweights. Another option:"
Not very practical unless you're a homeless person who lives outside and the people you want to call are in the same situation. To receive or transmitt to a satellite requires and unobstructed view of the satellite. With this gadget you would have to be outside with a clear path to the satellite for it to work. And if the person you are calling is using one of these they would also have to be outside with a clear path to the satellite or their phone would never ring. Did you see the prices of the phone and service? https://satellitephonestore.com/catalog/sale/details/inmarsat-isatphone-2-satellite-phone-kit-322
ReplyDeleteI don't mean to burst your bubble, but I was in the satellite antenna business for about 15 years and this is not a practical device for everyday use.
Thanks.
DeleteThank you for posting this.
ReplyDeleteI just now ordered one.
& thank you. Hope all is well and how long since you left the VA home?
DeleteI don't know, but I think it's been a few years.
ReplyDeleteAlso, unless they've recently changed things, it was not a Veterans Administration home, but was actually administered by the Department of Defense, i.e., the Armed Forces Retirement Home, in Gulfport, Mississippi and Washington, D.C.
Someone who used to reside there told me that living there has become too expensive, due to recent administrative changes requiring dramatically increased resident fees.
