The FCC's Threat To Internet Freedom

"Tomorrow morning the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) will mark the winter solstice by taking an unprecedented step to expand government's reach into the Internet by attempting to regulate its inner workings. In doing so, the agency will circumvent Congress and disregard a recent court ruling"

The Secession Party

"The United States of America has become too large and needs to be broken in two. As well, New York and other states that have an urban-rural split ought to be split. The nation has become too large to manage, as today’s Congress attests. This would be so even if ideological differences did not divide the nation and the states. The nation should be broken up into a red nation and a blue nation and New York should be broken up into upstate and downstate.

The Secession Party would aim to dissolve the union, undoing the work of Abraham Lincoln and reasserting the aims of the anti-Federalists, who opposed the scope and extent of federal power that came to pass under Washington."

Rep. Pence Seeks to Defund Planned Parenthood

View Image

NewsMax

Planned Parenthood's Cecile Richards earned more than $397,000 in 2008 as president of the organization whose Health Centers performed 324,008 abortions that year.

Richards received $385,163 in salary and $11,876 in benefits and deferred compensation in the fiscal year ending in June 2008, the latest for which the organization has publicly released an annual report.

Planned Parenthood can well afford her compensation — it received $349.6 million from taxpayers in that fiscal year.

The abortion total is included on the “fact sheet” published by Planned Parenthood, which also lists the number of “adoption referrals to other agencies” in 2008: 2,405.

Now Rep. Mike Pence, an Indiana Republican, is taking action he hopes will lead to the defunding of Planned Parenthood.

In January 2009, he introduced legislation that would amend the Public Health Service Act to prohibit “providing any federal family planning assistance to an entity unless the entity certifies that, during the period of such assistance, the entity will not perform, and will not provide any funds to any other entity that performs an abortion.”

The bill was referred to the House Committee on Energy and Commerce, where it languished.

But with Republicans set to take control of the House in January, Pence plans to reintroduce the bill, according to his press secretary, Mary Vought.

She told CNSNews: “Congressman Pence will continue to fight for the unborn and intends to reintroduce his legislation to defund Planned Parenthood this coming Congress.”

Pence recently told ABC News: “Let’s deny all federal funding to Planned Parenthood of America. That would save $350 million right off the top."

He added: “I have to tell you as I travel around the country, the American people — millions of Americans, more every day — are offended that the largest abortion provider in America is also the largest recipient of federal funding under Title X.”

Liberty

Patriot Post

"Most people whom we elect to Congress are either ignorant of, have contempt for or are just plain stupid about the United States Constitution. ...

Here, in part, is the oath of office that each congressman takes:

'I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same....'

Here's my question to you: If one takes an oath to uphold and defend, and bear true faith and allegiance to the Constitution, at the minimum, shouldn't he know what he's supposed to uphold, defend and be faithful to? If congressmen, judges, the president and other government officials were merely ignorant of our Constitution, there'd be hope -- ignorance is curable through education. These people in Washington see themselves as our betters and rulers. They have contempt for the limits our Constitution places on the federal government envisioned by James Madison, the father of our Constitution, who explained in the Federalist Paper 45:

'The powers delegated by the proposed Constitution to the federal government are few and defined. Those which are to remain in the State governments are numerous and indefinite. The former will be exercised principally on external objects, as war, peace, negotiation, and foreign commerce. ... The powers reserved to the several States will extend to all the objects which in the ordinary course of affairs, concern the lives and liberties, and properties of the people, and the internal order, improvement and prosperity of the State.'"

No Compromises, Congress

"A loud and clear message should be sent to all newly elected Reps in DC at the beginning of the new congress to the effect that there will be no tolerance for compromise among true conservatives. And furthermore, all compromises of the past must be rescinded. Nothing short of constitutional restoration and restraints on government will be acceptable and anything short of that will bring about another groundswell of dissatisfaction in the worst sort of manner."

The Parental Rights Amendment

Gear Up for Victory in 2011

We are looking to win a major victory in 2011: we would see the U.S. House adopt the Parental Rights Amendment and send it to the Senate. We are making good progress toward that end, but there is still much work to be done.

The single greatest thing you can do right now to pave the way for this 2011 victory is to schedule and host viewings of “The Child: America’s Battle for the Next Generation.” The more people who see this film, the larger the army of voters we can raise in support of protecting children by safeguarding the rights of their parents through this Amendment. As grassroots support swells across the country, it will become easier and easier to persuade congressmen from every state to stand up and support this measure.

Our goal is to premiere in 1000 locations starting Nov. 20, and so far we have 100 sites. I hope this is a good sign, as I know many will need to check with locations before they can sign up for a showing. So check with the appropriate people and let us know as soon as possible. We look forward to hearing from you! (For more on “The Child” or to sign up to host a showing, visit parentalrights.org/thechild.)

The second greatest thing you can do this week is take one last opportunity to encourage every candidate in your area to sign the Parental Rights Pledge before next Tuesday’s elections. Through your efforts we have gained the support of 2 dozen candidates across the country, including contestants in hot races like the Nevada and Kentucky Senate elections. Even more importantly, we have added to the number of districts in which, no matter who wins next week, the Parental Rights Amendment is guaranteed support in the next Congress. Please, visit parentalrights.org/states, click on your state, then on Elections 2010 (or click your state name here), and call those candidates who still have not pledged their support.

I look forward to posting your movie showings and pledge successes online!

Gratefully,

Obamacare: DOA?

The Patriot Post

Editorial Exegesis

"Legal arguments for Obamacare's individual mandate fail the 'Alice in Wonderland' test and the duck test. In two court challenges to the law in the past 11 days and a court hearing today on a third, the Obama administration's legal position is fading faster than the Cheshire Cat. Democrats took some solace from the first case, a challenge in Michigan, because Judge George C. Steeh ultimately ruled in favor of Obamacare. Yet even though that Clinton-appointed judge refused to declare the mandate unconstitutional, he undercut the administration's key argument that the penalty for failing to buy insurance is a 'tax,' and that the mandate it enforces is allowable within the broad taxing power provided by the Constitution. 'The provisions of the Health Care Reform Act at issue here, for the most part, have nothing to do with the assessment or collection of taxes,' Judge Steeh ruled. This is so important that the federal district judge in Florida, in Thursday's preliminary ruling in the second case, spent 22 pages analyzing it. If the fine is a penalty rather than a tax, Congress' power is far less extensive. Judge Roger Vinson noted Congress repeatedly called the fine a 'penalty,' explicitly changing its description from a 'tax' that earlier versions of the bill assessed by name. Citing Alice's admonition to Humpty Dumpty that words can't 'mean so many different things' as Humpty intended, Judge Vinson concluded, 'Congress should not be permitted to secure and cast politically difficult votes on controversial legislation by deliberately calling something one thing ... [only to] argue in court that Congress really meant something else entirely.' Judge Vinson explained that no matter what Congress called it, the assessment was designed to act as a punishment, not a revenue measure. Hence, it's not a tax. His 22-page analysis is an exposition of the logic that if something is called a duck, acts like a duck and quacks like a duck, it's a duck -- and the same goes for a penalty. The tax issue is vital because it's the Obama administration's fallback position if it loses on the first and biggest dispute, which is whether Congress has the power under the Commerce Clause not only to regulate commerce, but to force individuals to engage in specific commerce."

This Election Will Make Obama More, Not Less, Dangerous

"He has already used the majorities in Congress to inflict a generation’s worth of damage on American society.

But with those majorities taken away in the House and perhaps just weakened in the Senate, what will come forward next is Obama’s narcissistic rage."

Three Things The New Congress Must Do To Satisfy The Tea Party

"A quick scan of the headlines in today’s internets reveal an example of how the government has grown out of control; breeding a rudderless society unmoored by ignorance and intentional dismissal of the Constitution. The decision in the U.S. District court in Detroit, by George Steeh, gives, at least for a short time, the congress powers never before imagined in the two-hundred-plus years of American political society. With the flick of a pen, everything intended by the framers of the Constitution is obliterated under the protection of the vastly overstated Commerce Clause."

Parental Rights Action Request

It's Time! Please Call Today

Today we are launching what we hope will be the largest call blitz yet, urging all U.S. House candidates (including incumbents) to pledge their support for the Parental Rights Amendment. If we are to be heard above the pre-election din and set ourselves up for victory in the spring, we need as many of you to participate as possible – and urge friends, family, and colleagues to join you!

Here is what you need to do right now, before you close this email:

1. If he or she is seeking reelection and isn’t already a cosponsor, call your current Representative’s local office and ask him or her to cosponsor HJRes 42, the Parental Rights Amendment.

2. Call House candidates’ campaign offices and urge them to pledge their support for the Parental Rights Amendment in the next Congress. Tell them if they lost their copy of the pledge, ParentalRights.org would be happy to send them another one. Have them call us at 540-751-1200.

3. If you have a contact number for a third party candidate whose number is not included on our page already, email Ashley@parentalrights.org with that information.

Where do I find the phone numbers? Just click on your state below, then scroll down to your district.

Alabama Hawaii Massachusetts New Mexico South Dakota
Alaska Idaho Michigan New York Tennessee
Arizona Illinois Minnesota North Carolina Texas
Arkansas Indiana Mississippi North Dakota Utah
California Iowa Missouri Ohio Vermont
Colorado Kansas Montana Oklahoma Virginia
Connecticut Kentucky Nebraska Oregon Washington
Delaware Louisiana Nevada Pennsylvania West Virginia
Florida Maine New Hampshire Rhode Island Wisconsin
Georgia Maryland New Jersey South Carolina Wyoming

What do I say?

Tell them you’ve seen the Zogby poll, and you are part of the 93% of Americans who agree with the traditional definition of fundamental parental rights. Tell them you intend to see the Parental Rights Amendment passed in the U.S. House next year, and that you want them to be part of that solution. We want sitting members to cosponsor HJRes 42 in this Congress and commit to cosponsoring the new HJResolution in January. We want challenger candidates to sign the pledge promising their support if they are elected.

What about candidates I don't plan to vote for?

The fact is, if they win they become your representative, regardless of their party affiliation. Our plan is to make sure that whoever wins your district, your next Congress member will support the Parental Rights Amendment. So please, call each candidate you can and let them know that if they end up representing you, you want them to stand up for families by protecting parental rights.

Of course, if you don’t plan to vote for them, it would be a bad idea to tell them such when you make your request. Tell them instead that you want your next congressman to support parental rights, and if they want the job, they should side with the overwhelming majority of Americans.

Thank you for participating!

Iraq Racks Up Budget Surpluses While U.S. Debt Grows

NEWSMAX

"Iraq has run annual budget surpluses each year since the United States invaded and ousted Saddam Hussein in 2003 — while the U.S. pumped more than half a trillion dollars into Iraq and ran deficits in every one of those years.

In the 6-year period from 2004 through 2009, the Iraqi government amassed a surplus of $52.1 billion, with up to 92.1 percent of its revenues coming from oil exports, according to an audit by the U.S. Government Accountability Office.

During that same period, deficits in six consecutive years boosted the overall U.S. national debt from $6.9 trillion to $12.3 trillion.

Part of that increased debt can be attributed to the $624 billion the U.S. has spent fighting the war to overthrow the Iraqi regime and help the Iraqis set up a democratic government, the GAO observed.

Despite Iraq’s surpluses, on July 29 the U.S. Congress approved $1 billion in “emergency” aid to the Iraqi government, and President Barack Obama is seeking another $2 billion in his fiscal 2011 budget, CNSNews reported.

The GAO also disclosed that the Iraqi government held as much as $32.2 billion in cash on deposit at banks and financial institutions.

“GAO believes that Congress should consider Iraq’s available financial resources when it reviews the administration’s fiscal 2011 budget request and other potential future budget requests for additional funds to train and equip Iraqi security forces,” the GAO stated in its audit report.

According to the Congressional Budget Office, America’s budget deficit exceeded $1.3 trillion for fiscal 2010, which ended Sept. 30 — the second greatest deficit as a percentage of GDP since World War II.

The greatest? The previous year’s $1.4 trillion deficit."
