DREAM Amnesty Defeated!

From: Jim Robb, VP Operations
Date: Saturday 11:54 a.m. EST

We won--DREAM Amnesty defeated; gets only 55 votes, needed 60

Activists,

We won! The DREAM Act sponsors only got 55 votes to "invoke cloture." They needed 60 votes. The amnesty is killed.

You won!

No amnesty has become law all this century, thanks to you.

Now, it's our turn, starting January 5 in the new Congress. Our work of "True Reform" will begin.

A complete report from Roy will follow later today! Celebrate!

Jim Robb

"From July 1, 2009, to June 30, 2010, foreign-born Hispanics gained 98,000 construction jobs. Native-born Hispanics lost 133,000. Black and white U.S. construction workers lost 511,000 jobs."

Last Day To Stop Amnesty!

From: Roy Beck, President, NumbersUSA
Date: Friday 17DEC2010 1 a.m. EST

TODAY (FRI.) IS YOUR LAST DAY
TO STOP DREAM ACT AMNESTY

Sen. Reid Is Shoe-Horning Vote on Saturday Morning
As Other Senate Efforts Are Falling Apart

PLEASE PICK UP YOUR PHONE TO COUNTER
THE GIANT SURGE OF PRO-AMNESTY LOBBYING

Here Are Today's Target Lists For Phoning

Sen. Reid's change of plans was announced suddenly Thursday evening.

Does that mean he thinks he has the 60 votes to pass this amnesty? Not necessarily. Our NumbersUSA whip count says he doesn't have the votes. But votes could change over the next 24 hours under the barrage of last-minute personal appeals from poster-child illegal-alien students and groups of local clergy all saying the amnesty is a moral requirement. Pres. Obama put out an appeal for clergy to help him round up the last votes needed.

So, the moment of truth is upon every one of us. Will we rise to the occasion and help our allies in the Senate defeat this amnesty?

Your most important phone calls are to your own two Senators.

Following are the lists that show the kinds of calls each Senator needs to get.

TOP PRIORITY: Encourage These 12 Senators
To Stick With Leanings or Pledges To Vote NO

This is the group that we HAVE to win. Fortunately, they are all leaning toward voting NO and their staff may even be saying they probably will vote NO. But our allies in the Senate don't feel absolutely sure of these votes. The dozen Senators are under enormous lobbying pressure intended to make them feel inhumane if they vote NO.

Give them quick phone calls to thank them for their intention to vote NO on the DREAM Act amnesty. And note that a key reason they are right is that DREAM provides zero enforcement to stop future millions of illegal workers from coming and taking jobs from hard-pressed Americans.

2nd PRIORITY: Pound These 3 Senators Up For Re-Election in 2012 Who Are Leaning YES on Amnesty

There is no logical political reason for these Senators to vote YES on amnesty . . . if the people of their states know what they are doing. All three of these have good tendencies in our direction on amnesty in the past. But they are acting like this amnesty is somehow different.

Your job with these Senators is to persuade their staffs that voting for an amnesty without any enforcement will definitely be a key issue in the 2012 elections during what all experts predict will be continuing high unemployment for U.S. workers.

All three of these are Democrats in states that swung heavily Republican in last month's elections. A vote for amnesty might look like political suicide.

All three of these have voted with us against amnesty in the past.

Most of these Democrats have had very little interest in hearing from us in the past.

But after last month's cataclysmic results, these Senators find themselves in states where they could have a really competitive race in 2012. Thanks to all of you who phoned them today. Now, we need another round of calls telling them how much an amnesty vote Saturday will be like an albatross around their necks during the 2012 campaigns.

Two Californias

View Image

"In two supermarkets 50 miles apart, I was the only one in line who did not pay with a social-service plastic card (gone are the days when “food stamps” were embarrassing bulky coupons). But I did not see any relationship between the use of the card and poverty as we once knew it: The electrical appurtenances owned by the user and the car into which the groceries were loaded were indistinguishable from those of the upper middle class.

California does not care whether one broke the law to arrive here or continues to break it by staying. It asks nothing of the illegal immigrant — no proficiency in English, no acquaintance with American history and values, no proof of income, no record of education or skills. It does provide all the public assistance that it can afford (and more that it borrows for), and apparently waives enforcement of most of California’s burdensome regulations and civic statutes that increasingly have plagued productive citizens to the point of driving them out."

The mobile Mexican Consulate is coming to the Greenville NC Convention Center this Saturday AND Sunday (18th and 19th) to sell Mexican matricula consular ID cards and Mexican passports to "UNDOCUMENTED IMMIGRANTS" in the area. They will also be REGISTERING PEOPLE TO VOTE!

The Mexican Consulate has leased space in the TAXPAYER FUNDED Convention Center for 2 days because of the large number of illegal aliens they expect to show up. Why is a foreign national government handling their affairs on North Carolina taxpayer property?

The center is located at303 Greenville Blvd., Greenville, NC. Their phone number is: (252) 321-7671. Here is the Greenville Convention Center calendar which shows the event:
http://www.gcccalendar.com/month.php

The local Hilton Hotel is sponsoring the event and Tom Glennon is the CEO of the hotel. His contact info is: (252) 355-5000. **Call Mr. Glennon and ask him why he is aiding and abetting illegal aliens by sponsoring this event on local taxpayer property?

Talking Points

1. No foreign governments should be using U.S./NC taxpayer property for the purpose of selling ID cards to those illegally present in OUR country.
2. Legally present foreign nationals have a passport from their home country and a U.S. VISA. Nothing less.
3. Continuing to "aid and abet" ILLEGAL ALIENS is VERY costly to taxpayers. Schooling, medical, housing, interpreters, legal representation, etc.
4. Insist that your elected officials represent legal citizens and their interests. We are the voting constituents.
5. Border enforcement; first, foremost, and only. No AMNESTY, aiding or abetting is acceptable.

Congress To Address 'Anchor Baby' Issue

Steve King"This is uncontrolled immigration. It's rewarding illegals who sneak into the United States, and we can fix it by statute," he explains. "We don't have to amend the Constitution. The clause in there -- 'subject to the jurisdiction thereof' -- is the clause that we apply. We can just pass a law that says we're not going to give automatic citizenship to the babies born to illegal mothers, because those [women] are not subject to the jurisdiction of the United States," the Republican lawmaker suggests. "They're subject to the jurisdiction of some foreign country -- whatever their home country is."

AMNESTY VOTES: Wednesday In House And Senate

From: Roy Beck, President, NumbersUSA
Date: Monday 6DEC2010 10:30 p.m. EST

THE AMNESTY VOTES ARE FINALLY SET TO HAPPEN
-- WEDNESDAY, IN THE HOUSE & SENATE

Action No. 1:
Send the anti-amnesty faxes that are posted on your NumbersUSA customized Action Board. They are free and can be sent over the internet with the click of your mouse.

www.NumbersUSA.com/actionbuffet

Of course, things can change, but these votes have really been scheduled, finally.

The moment of truth is here. And the truth is that the only thing stopping the triumph of amnesty on Wednesday will be the vigorous direct opposition from citizens like you. Pres. Obama has thrown the full power of the White House behind passing the DREAM Act amnesty by deploying virtually every Cabinet secretary to lobby, as well as activating his massive, national grassroots organization with its nearly unlimited spending power.

Hundreds of thousands of citizens like YOU created enough of a firestorm to win anti-amnesty votes several times in 2007 -- and to keep the votes from occuring since then.

It only works if every one of you does something -- now.

If enough of you respond fully and immediately, this could be the last time we have to fight an amnesty for years -- or we could lose at the last minute, and 10 years of beating back the amnesties would be lost in an instant.

Action No. 2:
Watch for my Phone Alert Tuesday morning. It will be tailored for your state.

As important as the faxing is, each phone call tomorrow will be worth 50 faxes.

The wealthy open-borders forces have set up phone banks all over the country -- just like political Parties do on Election Day. They will be driving massive numbers of phone calls into Congress throughout Tuesday.

Only you can create a different story in the offices of the swing-voting Members of Congress. Will they hear YES TO AMNESTY all day, or will they be reminded constantly that a NO ON AMNESTY MEANS A YES FOR UNEMPLOYED AMERICANS?

Sideline Action:
In case you are interested, I will be doing an hour-long debate about the amnesty on 190 NPR radio stations nationally at 10-11 a.m. (Eastern) on Tuesday morning.

  • 10-11 a.m. ET -- See a list of NPR stations that carry On Point with Tom Ashbrook. www.wbur.org/syndication/?program=On-Point

  • 10-11 a.m. ET -- Listen online: www.onpointradio.org/

  • 4-6 p.m. ET -- SIRIUS Satellite Radio, NPR TALK Channel

  • 4-6 p.m. ET -- SIRIUS Satellite Radio, Everything Plus The Best of XM Channel.

  • 4-6 p.m. ET -- XM Satellite Radio, XM Public Radio Channel.

    MOST LIKELY SCENARIO RIGHT NOW

    In the House,
leaders want to vote first because it is assumed the best chance of passing an amnesty is in the House. This could happen late Wednesday morning or in the afternoon. They want to build momentum for the Senate to take up the amnesty perhaps Wednesday evening.

If the amnesty fails in just one of the chambers, WE win.

Generally, Speaker Pelosi would not schedule a vote on a bill that she doesn't believe she can get the 218 votes to pass it.

Does that mean she has assurance of 218 YES votes? I don't think so. But she must be close. And she figures that if she holds the vote Wednesday she can force enough on-the-fence Democrats to take her side. Your job is to pull those Democrats over to the NO side.

Our road to victory depends on holding all but about 6 of the Republicans as NO votes and to get about 45 Democrats to vote NO.

About 75 Democrats are still in play. I'll be coming to you about them Tuesday morning.

    In the Senate,
we have better prospects of winning. In the House, they only need 50% plus one vote to pass the amnesty. But in the Senate they have to get 60% of the 100 votes.

Incredible pressures are being exerted on Republican Senators who have supported the DREAM amnesty in the past to do so again. Thus far, only Senators Lugar of Indiana and Bennett of Utah has committed to a YES. But at least 10 other Republicans need a lot of your support to vote NO, even though we feel relatively good about most of them. If they are your Senators, you will get an alert Tuesday morning.

We also are continuing to exert as much pressure as possible on about a dozen Democratic Senators who are up for re-election in 2012 and have shown a distaste for amnesty at some time in the past.

YOU HAVE HELD OFF AN AMNESTY FOR JUST SHORT OF 2 YEARS AGAINST INCREDIBLY BAD ODDS -- DON'T LET VICTORY SLIP AWAY AT THE LAST MINUTE.

THANKS FOR ALL YOU HAVE DONE (i.e. 700,000 FAXES IN THE LAST MONTH).

THANKS FOR WHAT YOU ARE GOING TO DO NOW.

"The Federation for American Immigration Reform has estimated that the total cost of education for illegals is $52 billion a year. The report says Texas is saddled with $16.4 billion of that amount........ the director of research for the Health and Human Services Commission, told the committee that healthcare to illegal immigrants last year cost the state of Texas nearly $100 million, with the bulk being emergency room care."

    Attention NCFIRE members:

Concerning the Dream Act Amnesty vote, there may be a big problem in Maine. Calls from Americans are being outpaced by calls from illegal alien supporters in the offices of US Senators Susan Collins and Olympia Snowe.

Collins and Snowe are not releasing their positions on the Dream Amnesty and the illegal alien supporters have their hopes pinned on Collins and Snowe joining the Dems to pass the cloture vote on the bill.

We need you to call these offices with your own versions of the sample messages below.WE NEED EVERYONE TO PARTICIPATE! Remember to call, and then communicate by fax and email.

SAMPLE MESSAGES for your calls, faxes and emails.

"Please vote No on Cloture for the Dream Act Amnesty bill that would displace and replace millions of American students, workers, and voters."

"Please do not allow a controversial bill like Dream Act Amnesty to proceed, after such a historic backlash in this year's elections."

"Can your offices provide me with an estimate on how many innocent American students, workers, and voters will be displaced or negatively impacted, if Dream Act Amnesty is passed?"

"Does your office have an estimate on how many millions of illegal aliens will quickly enter the US, if you reward illegal aliens with Dream Act Amnesty?"

"I plan to oppose any member of the US Senate who votes YES on CLOTURE for the Dream Act Amnesty. Forty four Dream Act Amnesty supporters lost their seats in 2010 and I am certain more Dream Act Amnesty supporters will be defeated in 2012. Please stand with we Americans who are calling you and please do not listen to the illegal aliens and their supporters who want you to pass Amnesty"

"Please ask Senator _______ to make her position for or against Dream Act Amnesty Cloture votes Known so American voters will know, if they should support or oppose her in the next elections."

No Amnesty, No DREAM Act Action Request

The upcoming debate over the DREAM Act’s passage is beginning to look more like a con man’s shell game, of sorts. With two new versions of the original DREAM Act now on the table, it will be easier to perpetrate a great fraud on the American public. Players in the game -- the American people -- will be tantalized with accepting changes in the law via legislation, substituting amnesty applied to current law breakers for the legitimate and honest legal immigration process already in place.

The White House, unaccountable agency czars, and congressmen, some of whom compromised integrity for votes in the pre-mid-term election cycle, are creating confusion over the details with the political goal of passing it without much objection. Congressmen who never read bills, won’t know which version they are voting on. However, this is one measure where the devil is NOT in the details of the two bills, but in principle.

The truth of the DREAM Act's goals, S. 3827, were best exposed by Senator Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.) in his “Ten Things You Need to Know About S. 3827, The DREAM Act." Here are a few of the low-lights he enumerated:
    • The DREAM Act Is NOT Limited to Children, And It Will Be Funded On the Backs Of Hard Working, Law-Abiding Americans
    • The DREAM Act PROVIDES SAFE HARBOR FOR ANY ALIEN, Including Criminals, From Being Removed or Deported If They Simply Submit An Application
    • Estimates Suggest That At Least 2.1 Million Illegal Aliens Will Be Eligible For the DREAM Act Amnesty.
    • Illegal Aliens Will Get In-State Tuition Benefits
    • The DREAM Act Does Not Require That An Illegal Alien Finish Any Type of Degree
    • The DREAM Act does not require that an illegal alien serve in the military as a condition for amnesty, and There is ALREADY A Legal Process In Place For Illegal Aliens to Obtain U.S. Citizenship Through Military Service
    • Despite Their Current Illegal Status, DREAM Act Aliens Will Be Given All The Rights That Legal Immigrants Receive—Including The Legal Right To Sponsor Their Parents and Extended Family Members For Immigration
    • Current Illegal Aliens Will Get Federal Student Loans, Federal Work Study Programs, and Other Forms of Federal Financial Aid
Dreamy buyers need to beware, both versions are on the Senate calendar. From Congressional Quarterly comes the minute differences between the two versions:

One version (S 3962) keeps an eligibility age of younger than 35 for the program, but a second version (S 3963) lowers that age to younger than 30....
If no other eligibility criteria are changed, the potential number of people eligible would drop slightly, from roughly 2.1 million to slightly more than 2 million, according to an analysis by the nonpartisan Migration Policy Institute.

Besides the usual Democrats who support the measure, Republicans Richard Lugar from Indiana and Robert Bennett of Utah are already vocalizing their support. Senator Orrin Hatch may be on board if the cut off point is lowered somewhat; after all he authored the original legislation, nine years ago. Senators Snowe, Collins, Murkowski, Brownback and McCain either have not yet made up their minds, or haven’t made public statements on how they will vote.

If your elected representatives are out of sync with you, your family, friends and neighbors on this issue, contact them immediately as time is of the essence in this lame duck session, and let them know you are not in favor of limited or conditional amnesty for illegals. Remind them that the front door of the United States, the one our forebears came through, is always open for those seeking application for a new life in a new land. True justice requires that a nation and those from outside respect the established laws of that nation. Breaking those laws and then rewriting them after the fact is no justice at all.

    Thanks,

Your friends at The John Birch Society

Durham And The Matricula Consular Card =Action Alert

A recent article in the Durham News (http://www.thedurhamnews.com/2010/11/06/204300/council-to-consider-mexican-id.html), indicated that the Durham City Council is deciding whether to accept the Mexican matricula consular card as a legal form of identification. They will make a decision by November 15th.

NCFIRE strongly opposes this acceptance of the matricula consular card as it is the leading "breeder" document towards identity theft and identity fraud. Those are not our words, but the words of the FBI, testifying before Congress on the matricula consular card:
    http://www.fbi.gov/congress/congress03/mccraw062603.htm

Their are other problems associated with the ID card as well including:

    1) The matricula consular is useful in the United States only for illegal aliens, since legal immigrants, by definition, have U.S. government-issued documents.

    2) The Mexican government has launched an aggressive grassroots lobbying campaign to win acceptance for its matricula card from state and local jurisdictions and from banks, especially in areas where Mexican illegal aliens are concentrated.

    3) The objective of this lobbying effort is to achieve quasi-legal status for Mexican illegals in the United States without waiting for action from Washington.

    4) The matricula itself, however, is useful to illegal aliens only insofar as U.S. institutions are willing to collaborate with Mexico's efforts to circumvent U.S. immigration law.

    5) While many jurisdictions have resisted pressure from the Mexican government, others have not; the matricula is now accepted by 800 local law enforcement agencies and 74 banks, as well as by 13 states for purposes of obtaining a driver's license.

    6) Not only does the matricula subvert U.S. immigration law, it is not even a secure identity document. Mexico is not authenticating the documents used to obtain the matricula against computerized data files in Mexico.

    7) Safeguards are not in place to prevent multiple issuances of matriculas to the same individual; in fact, the INS has already reported finding multiple cards in different names issued to the same person.

    8) The matricula is becoming a shield that hides criminal activity for two reasons: first, the holder's identity was not verified when the card was issued, and second, police in jurisdictions that accept the matricula are less likely to run background checks on card holders picked up for minor infractions.

    9) The U.S. Treasury Department has given its approval to banks to accept the matricula for opening bank accounts.

    10) The acceptance of Mexico's matricula consular sets a precedent, making it almost impossible to reject similar cards presented by illegal aliens from other countries, including those which have sent terrorists to the United States in the past.

Please consider taking a few minutes to contact the Council members below and encourage them to reconsider the acceptance of the Mexican marticula consular card as a legal form of ID.

Colorado Governor: Hickenlooper (D), Tancredo (ACP) Take It To The Finish

"The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Likely Voters in the state shows Hickenlooper with a 47% to 42% lead over Tancredo, a former GOP congressman now running as the candidate of the American Constitution Party. Maes trails with five percent (5%) support. Six percent (6%) like some other candidate in the race, and one percent (1%) is undecided."

Tancredo Urges Rival To Step Aside In Colorado

"The polls show Colorado governor candidate Tom Tancredo with a commanding lead over his Republican rival Dan Maes, but John Hickenlooper still leads overall, so Tancredo is leaning on Maes to step aside for the good of the state.

Hickenlooper is remembered as the mayor of Denver who continued the sanctuary city program there. In addition, when he owned a restaurant, the business hired an illegal alien who later murdered Denver police officer Donnie Young in 2005. A Governor Hickenlooper would be a very bad thing indeed for the rule of law."

    Are Republican Senators Lying Already?

"It will not at all be surprising if, given the great people’s victory in November, the elected torch bearers find their flame profoundly diminished very soon after they move into their DC offices. I say to Limbaugh, civil wars and revolutions don’t begin in the senate, but in the street"
