NC LS Chairman’s Chapter Report: November 1, 2010

This has been a productive year for our Chapter with three Conferences behind us—I wanted to take a moment to reflect on the year, remind us all of why the are League members, and how we can prepare the future. Also, the LS National Conference in Atlanta is past and the message we hear loud and clear is that nothing has changed politically in this country.

The usual suspects are still in charge, and the other usual suspects are out of power and willing to say and do anything to get back in power. Nothing has changed. Here is a synopsis of how we can work toward the future from Dr. Michael Hill:

1) We believe any sort of "reform" of the regime to be impossible (barring a miracle from the Lord);

2) Reform being impossible in our view, we do not place any hope in "a return to the Constitution" as a panacea for our ills;

3) We believe in Southern independence simply because we have a God-given right to govern ourselves as a means to protecting our Southern interests--we do not believe in it as any sort of "last resort;"

4) The South belongs to we Southerners; thus we ought to start acting like it in all we do;

5) We seek no one's permission, consent, or approval to preserve and advance our own well being and independence;

6) We must learn to think and act "outside the box" and convince our fellow Southerners to do likewise--as a corollary to this, we must learn to be, as Ben Davis told us, "paradigm shifters" and to avoid our own "paradigm paralysis." To do this, we must begin to see the world, and act in it, in some radically different ways;

7) We do not compromise on any question of vital importance to the South and our cause for her independence--there must be no reconciliation with those who are our sworn enemies; and 8) we must work harder and smarter everyday in all we do.

The State of North Carolina: We still live in a State which will keep Socialist-Democrats in power and they control all State patronage and appointments to historical resource departments---hence the continued attacks upon the heritage of North Carolinians. Make note that many of the past State Democratic regime’s principals are being investigated for corruption, malfeasance and dishonorable conduct---we must work here at home to build support for some reasonable reform. In your own areas you can develop discussion and influence groups to push for this reform, and work for local candidates who will deliver.

Election 2010: Remember, all politics is local and we must work to control our own State. No matter what happens in DC, North Carolina is our focus. In tomorrow’s elections, vote for candidates who show promise from School Board to State representatives---demand accountability and let them know you are watching. Get to know your local representatives, and push North Carolina sovereignty issues and concerns. Support Tea Party candidates, vote only for incumbents who have earned your vote.

League of the South Impact in NC: The NC LS is only as effective as our membership will allow it to be. We all promote the NC LS in our own areas by being active politically and promoting State sovereignty, 10th Amendment issues, limitations on federal authority, and respect for our past. You are a spokesman for the NC LS where you live, be active in local political groups and let them know we are serious about our State’s (and our children’s) future. As always, be wary of the Republicans and their promises.

Let’s Be Realistic: The hoped for political self-determination of the American South may not happen tomorrow, but we must all agree that we are far closer today than we thought five or ten years ago. We must maintain the momentum, and expend our precious energy toward attainable goals every day. This can be as simple as joining local political groups and constantly speaking to and writing to city and county leaders. The NC LS is only as strong as the membership.

Please make an effort to attend our next State Conference, slated for Saturday, February 12th in Burlington. Be there to network with other members from around the State and get recharged for the battle to win back our State from the Socialist-Democrats. See you there!

LEAGUE OF THE SOUTH STATEMENT

October, 2010

In the wake of the League’s 17^th annual national conference, we believe it is time to restate the obvious for those who still don’t “get it” yet: the US government in DC is an organized criminal enterprise. Despite being founded on the “principle” of limited government, it has its tentacles in virtually every aspect of our lives all over our beloved Southland. It has become Godless and is rapidly approaching bankruptcy. Something must be done quickly to free us from this monster.

Don’t tell us to wait until the November elections—the GOP is not our savior. Rather, it is only the other side of a counterfeit coin. After all, who started this corrupt bailout business in September 2008 in the first place? Obama was merely a candidate at the time, though he has certainly continued to advance the Bush policies of allowing the banksters to continue their crime spree unabated.

The “Tea Party”, while showing some promise in the beginning, is now being predictably absorbed by status quo Republican politicians. These are people who think reducing government spending by a meager 1-3% is acceptable, but they aren’t even serious about accomplishing that much. It is all a ruse to get re-elected, and unfortunately the bulk of “conservative” America will fall for it yet again.

The Republican Party’s “Pledge to America” is another fraud that is carefully written not to set measurable goals or bind the Republicans to any sort of consequences if (or more accurately, when) they fail to fulfill their promises. A major GOP victory in November will be a devastating setback because conservative voters will think they have “won.” Consequently, they will continue to serve the Federal regime while they wait in vain for their anointed Republicans to bring some kind of meaningful reform to Washington, D.C. Even if today’s Republicans were to faithfully deliver on every single principle mentioned in their “pledge," it would only be a fraction of what needs to done. It would take many decades of sweeping electoral victories in both houses of Congress and the presidency to undo the monstrosity that has been created over a period of 150 years in D.C. Oh, and let’s not forget that all of this will also require the blessing of the US Supreme Court. These are events, of course, that will never occur in the current political system.

Finally, the mainstream Republican Party has no interest whatsoever in curbing the insatiable appetite of the United States government to occupy and control other nations. Irrational fear of the Islamic terror threat has prompted far too many Americans to endorse a perpetual military occupation of Iraq and Afghanistan, with the prospect of war with Iran and possibly Pakistan on the horizon as well. The magnitude of resources consumed by the war machine that is the US military will continue to drag down our economy; yet among all the outrage within the Tea Party and its supporters about government spending, we hear very little about reducing the US military presence in foreign lands.

We at the League of the South believe all peoples are entitled to the right of self-determination - even those who do not share our Southern cultural values. The people of Iraq and Afghanistan should be free to decide for themselves what government they will have, just as the people in Dixie have the same God-given right. This is why we advocate peaceful separation from the United States government. In a free and independent South, although we would pity other Americans who remained subjects of the United States government, we would not set out to make enemies of them.

If we don’t begin thinking and acting “outside the box,” the establishment elite will continue to loot us with impunity and violate our rights at every turn. Indeed, their greed (with the assistance of our inaction and even complicity) has essentially destroyed our economy. Instead of trying once again to reform that which cannot be reformed (those who most need reforming control all meaningful avenues of reform), we need simply to leave DC behind. There is even less reason to “save the Union” today than there was 150 years ago when our ancestors fought to be free from it.

Yes, we’re talking about Southern independence NOW! The sooner we get off this sinking ship, the better. The policies conducted by the ruling elite in Washington, D.C. can only end in utter collapse, chaos, and extreme hardship on our future generations. Independence achieved now, although sure to be challenging and not without sacrifices, is infinitely preferable to the chaos that will ensue as the US inevitably self-destructs. We are confident that another bid for Southern independence in our own day will be more widely supported by other nations than it was in 1861. This international support will make it much more difficult for the United States to use military force to thwart our independence. The League of the South does not seek to exact revenge on the United States government in any way, and we seek independence that is free of bloodshed. Just like President Jefferson Davis said in 1861, “All we ask is to be let alone”.

You can start by going to our website, www.dixienet.org, and signing the online petition entitled “States Rights, Secession, and Big Government.” Leave your address so we can contact you. Also, we are preparing another petition that will be presented to the people of the Southern States face-to-face. It calls for immediate secession and independence by our various State governments. We will have it available soon, and it will be announced (and probably downloadable) on the website. We will need your help in acquiring signatures.

Moreover, we need you to join the League of the South. If you’re reading this and are not already a member, please join today. If you were once a member but let your membership slide, please re-join. If you are a member in good standing, then recruit your family and friends into our organization. We need numbers along with hardworking hands and minds.

We also need people who are not afraid to hear the truth and to proclaim it; that Southern independence is the only way short of a direct miracle from the Lord that we can save the South for future generations. I want my children and grandchildren to live free and prosperous in a free South. I’ll bet you feel the same way about yours. Let’s make it happen together right now! Don’t let anyone tell you it can’t be done.

Catalunia: What the Southern States need to copy

Spain is a great "experiment" to say the least. It's a "nation-state" only in certain senses. It has many nationalist/secessionist movements. Really, only the center and south of the country have allegiance to Madrid. The north and east are very pro-secession. Plus the islands, which tend to lean pro-secession despite the large military presence there.

I think there are two examples from Spain we can examine and learn from here in Dixie. First would be the Catalunian example. Catalunia has a long history of independence and speaks a different language (though it is closely related to both Spanish and French). Anyhow, the government there is run by parties which are pro-business, pro-middle and upper class and pro-sovereignty. I won't say pro-independence, though there is enormous support for total independence. For example, at the football games there you'll never see even a single Spanish flag - only the Catalunian flag. They regularly burn pictures of the monarch before and after the games in the streets, fly secessionist's flags and create a very militant atmosphere for independence. If you go in a store there as a foreigner they'll try to speak your language, whatever it is. But if you are Spanish and go into a store there they will only speak Catalan, making a point to make Spanish people feel unwelcome. In their schools they teach almost exclusively in Catalan. Understand that under Franco until the mid-70s it was illegal to speak in any language other than Spanish throughout Spain - that was a regime that violently oppressed the secessionists/nationalists. Even though there is a radical edge to the movement there in Catalunia, it's middle-class driven and peaceful over-all. Spanish military people almost never come from the region (they come from the center, south and northwest of the country generally), hate to be based there (because they feel unwelcome and their children are taught Catalan, not Spanish, in their schools). They have been getting more and more rights and sovereignty of late. They basically totally control their internal affairs and are much more independent than are the US States. Last year, even though the Spanish Constitution prohibits secession and votes on secession, they held a referendum across Catalunia on secession. It was unofficial and sponsored by the pro-secession parties there but the people voted over 90% for independence from Spain. It wasn't binding but it sent a huge message to Madrid. I used to teach the government people in Madrid (the national capital) and they pretty much hate Catalunia while the Catalans pretty much hate the people of Madrid.

Another example is the Basque country. The Vascos (Basque people) are perhaps the oldest people in Europe. They descend from the original Med. people, not the Celts, Germans or Slavs. They fought the Romans, long ago, for independence, and the Romans never really controlled them, while they controlled the rest of Iberia. The Vascos are divided ideologically. They have a violent left-wing, pro-independence movement (ETA) which has been bombing and killing Spanish police, military and gov't people for the last 40 years or so. They only have about 10% support but make headlines all the time and scare the Spanish. Then there is the broader mainstream, which is much more conservative but also pro-independence. Their ruling party most of the time is a right-wing, pro-business, pro-free market, pro-independence party. They use all the traditional Basque symbols and speak Vasco. They are virtually independent. The Spanish military can't come into Pais Vasco (the Basque Country) without huge public protests and backlash and maybe violence. If you are from Madrid and drive your car into Pais Vasco it will likely be "keyed" when you leave it (the license plates gives away where you are from). So the Vascos have both a huge peaceful (right-wing) movement and also a much smaller but very visible violent movement (left-wing).

These are two examples we (the Southern States) could consider: the Catalans and Vascos. Both are successful. Both regions are autonomous and virtually independent. I don't think either will be part of Spain for very much longer. The Catalans welcome foreigners and try to make them Catalan. The Vascos discourage immigration and have driven out many of the Spanish people there who support Madrid and not independence - their population has actually fallen a lot since many military and government people have left the region.
