When do you intend to declare where you stand on this gun grab issue?

The simple fact is that those people in Washington intend to take away firearms from every American. Regardless of which path they choose, it’s a declaration of war against America by this Government.

You have firearms owners within this congregation. Lots of them. You have law enforcement in this congregation.

If this whole thing proceeds forward, then everyone will have to choose where they stand. Those who wear a badge will have to choose whether to honor their oaths or obey their orders. People like me will have to decide when, where, and against whom we fight and whether to play defense or go on offense.

As the pastor you have the unenviable task of being the undershepherd to this church and delivering God’s word. You have to take a stand and speak what you think is true and right whether anyone supports you or not. But as the leader, you do not have the luxury to just wait and see. 

We are headed towards a showdown about restrictions on government and the rights of the people. About who’s in charge and who is the servant. About whether government is our servant or our master. About whether we’re citizens or subjects. And these are truly talking irreconcilable viewpoints here. There is no middle ground where we should be compelled to accept partial slavery here. There is no middle ground where we should be compelled to accept a little more tyranny. If there were, then we should all be British subjects and the founders would have all swung from the gallows.

NC: First in the Nation: Beaufort County, NC Adopts Federal Gun Laws Nullification Resolution

 We need these fine gentlemen in control of our Republic.

The Beaufort County (N. C.) Board of Commissioners, meeting in special session January 18, 2013, adopted unanimously a resolution calling upon the N. C. General Assembly to take necessary measures to nullify any Federal action within the State that infringes on the Second Amendment's guarantee of the Right to Keep and Bear Arms. The resolution further directed the County Manager to insure that no county employees or resources were used in Federal actions that infringe on Second Amendment rights and called upon the Legislature to adopt necessary measures to call for, with the concurrence of two-thirds of the other states, the convening of a constitutional convention for the "specific purpose of amending the Unites States Constitution to strengthen the Second and Tenth Amendments…"

The motion was made by Commissioner Hood Richardson and seconded Commissioner Stan Deatherage and it was adopted with Vice Chairman Al Klemm and Commissioner Gary Brinn voting for adoption. Each commissioner made a brief statement of why they supported the resolution as can be heard in the video below. Three commissioners, all Democrats, were absent: Jerry Langley, Ed Booth, and Robert Belcher.

The action took place before an overflow crowd of citizens most of whom appeared to be in support of the action.

Texas AG ad targets N.Y. gun owners

Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott is inviting New Yorkers who aren’t pleased by Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s new gun regulations to move to his home state to keep their Second Amendment rights.

A series of Web ads were launched Wednesday, popping up across screens on various media websites accessed in Manhattan and Albany, including that of The New York Times, reported the Austin American-Statesman. The ads are paid for with Abbott’s campaign operation Texans for Greg Abbott and promise the uninfringed right to bear arms as well as lower taxes and more money for ammo.

One particular Facebook ad reads:

“Here in Texas, you will have the liberty and the opportunity to achieve your dreams. On top of that, we have no income tax, yet still manage to have a multi-billion dollar budget surplus.

“We have right to work laws and a reasonable regulatory environment. Texas has created more than 275,000 jobs in the last year alone! And we’ll fight like hell to protect your rights.

“You’ll also get to keep more of what you earn and use some of that extra money to buy more ammo.
“I hope to see you soon in Texas. In the meantime, sign up to show your support for our second amendment rights.”

Rand Paul rips Christie for NRA attack

 

Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul, a possible 2016 presidential contender, on Friday slammed New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, another potential presidential hopeful, saying a number of the governor’s recent positions would likely alienate GOP primary voters.

“I think criticizing the Second Amendment movement and the over-the-top ‘give me my money’ stuff, ‘I want all 60 billion now or I’ll throw a tantrum,’ I don’t think that’s going to play well in the Republican primary,” Paul, the libertarian-leaning GOP senator, said of the Republican governor.

Former Mayor of New Orleans Is Charged in Sweeping Corruption Case

Color me not surprised.

C. Ray Nagin, the former mayor of this city who fulminated against the federal government’s response to Hurricane Katrina but became for many a symbol of the shortcomings of government himself, was indicted by a federal grand jury on Friday on 21 counts including conspiracy, bribery and money laundering.

The indictment detailed a wide-ranging scheme of kickbacks and pay-for-play of a kind not entirely unfamiliar in Louisiana history. Contractors and vendors looking for work with the city would provide the mayor with vacations, big checks and even free granite for his family business. In exchange, they would be awarded lucrative contracts with the city, assistance in defusing community opposition to their projects and even forgiveness of tax penalties. 

While federal prosecutors have convicted a Louisiana governor, a congressman, a city councilman and members of the school board in the past 15 years alone, this is the first time in New Orleans history that a mayor has been indicted on corruption charges.
