Where’s the outrage? White South Carolina teen gunned down by cop gets no attention

After an independent autopsy showed that Zachary Hammond was shot by police from behind, the family of the unarmed South Carolina teen is wondering at the lack of national outrage in this case. Hammond was white.
According to the police in Seneca, South Carolina, an officer shot Hammond “in self-defense” when the teen allegedly tried to run him over with a car during a drug arrest. An officer approached Hammond’s car in the parking lot of a Hardee’s restaurant on July 26, after an undercover officer arranged a marijuana buy with the teen’s date, 23-year-old Tori Morton. The initial police report mentions finding a bag of marijuana on Morton – who was charged with simple possession – but makes no note of the lethal shooting.

The official autopsy confirmed Hammond was shot twice, but did not say from what angle. Hammond’s family arranged for an independent autopsy, which showed the 19-year-old had been shot from above and behind, suggesting that the official police story was inaccurate.

Description of Suspect: Anglo male, 6 foot 4 inches wearing a jean jacket and jeans and a Santa style wig, a light-blue cap and sunglasses.

More on the suspect from the Las Cruces News:
An Anglo man wearing a disguise is believed to have dropped off the package before leaving the mall, headed north. According to police scanner reports, the suspect is believed to be about 6-feet, 4-inches tall, and was wearing a white wig and beard, similar to a “Santa Claus” beard. The suspect was also wearing sunglasses, apparently to hide his face.
He also wore tennis shoes and a denim button-up shirt. Several witnesses were able to give Las Cruces police a description of the suspect.
On Sunday two bombs exploded minutes apart at two Las Cruces, New Mexico churches.

The families of Strange and the other victims are demanding the White House release documents relevant to the incident. (Associated Press)

The Obama administration is violating a judge’s order to turn over documents in the Aug. 6, 2011, shootdown of a U.S. helicopter — call sign Extortion 17 — that killed members of SEAL Team 6 in Afghanistan, a watchdog group is charging.

On the fourth anniversary of the worst one-day loss of military life in the war on terror, families of the dead say they are aghast that the government will not honor basic requests under the Freedom of Information Act.

Via avordvet

A Rohnert Park policeman was captured on video pulling his gun on the man who was recording him on his cellphone in a residential neighborhood court.

The officer appears in a YouTube video approaching the man, identified in the YouTube caption as Don McComas, first in his patrol vehicle and after a couple minutes on foot after stepping out of the vehicle.

The unnamed officer is heard ordering the man to take his hand out of his pocket, and when the man refuses the officer pulls his gun out of his holster.

Dylann Roof Confederate Flag Picture: A Hoax?

Via Cousin John

dylann roof with flag

After Dylann Roof walked into an African American church in Charleston and opened fire in June, leaving nine people dead, Confederate flags and monuments around the country began to come down because of the shooter’s presumed racial motivations.

However, new reports and analyses are surfacing that suggest the pictures that started the anti-Confederate campaign are not real, but instead are photo-shopped hoaxes meant to create a narrative surrounding the situation.

Confederate monument supporters in Portsmouth hire lawyers

Via Billy

.............if the council attempted to "breach its 140-year-old agreement accepting the Monument, and also violate Virginia laws protecting memorials for war veterans, that my clients intend to pursue any and all legal remedies available to them

***********************************

Fred Taylor, a partner at Bush & Taylor P.C., said his clients "stand as the successors" to various interest groups dedicated "to hold this Monument in trust as a commission for the benefit of the descendants of all Confederate Veterans..."

"Therefore, my clients would first assert that the City Council of Portsmouth has absolutely no authority to interfere, trespass, remove, or otherwise disturb the Confederate Monument, as the City does not own the Monument," Taylor said in the letter.
