Those Who Seek Power

The recall effort in Custer County, Colorado is more than a small town problem being dealt with, it is instructive as to how politics in this nation must be done. It is self defense, it is defending the homestead from invaders, because if you realize that these county commissioners had drafted legislation and were intent on pursuing a policy whereby a person could be jailed for repairing a broken outdoor light fixture (typically a yard light on a farm or ranch) in the interest of perhaps 6 or 7 other collectivists who wanted to eliminate "light pollution" in a rural mountain village and surrounding county and still think that the overwhelming majority shouldn't toss them out on their ears, then we will never understand each other. And, to the degree that this course of action might be emulated elsewhere, where the collectivist hooks be extracted by legal force, this is a good thing.

Collectivists operate by deception, it is their trademark, and these three individuals, having secured their seats one at a time, masquerading as conservatives to a largely disinterested population with much more to worry about than the actions of a county commission sworn to defend the Constitution, simply picked a few "Rs" on the list and gave it no more thought, until the Trojan Horse candidates revealed themselves for their true natures.

NC Monuments: Durham County Commissioners want "Absolute Anarchy"

 

The Durham County Board of Commissioners have proven to be irresponsible wardens of the public's trust to govern. As reported in the News & Observer, several members of the Board of Commissioners have voiced objections to the felony charges against the criminals responsible for damaging public property, and have potentially used this as political maneuver to withhold needed funding from the Durham County Sheriff's Department.

The recent debates about Confederate monuments in public places have stirred heated emotions from both sides, and Grass Roots North Carolina supports the vigorous exercise of free speech: speech that is protected by the first amendment. But to have politicians (the same ones that would, without blinking, abrogate your second amendment rights were it not for state preemption of local firearms laws) so wantonly disregard the rule of law and due process is breathtaking.

The idea of equal treatment under the law is codified in the 14th Amendment, and we believe strongly that Durham County's commissioners should think long and hard about this before undermining both the County's elected Sheriff, and the law and order of Durham County. In the words of Durham's Sheriffs department Major Paul Martin: "Political leanings must not constitute the elements of a crime. Murder is murder and vandalism is vandalism." We wholeheartedly agree, Major Marin, and we support the Durham County Sheriff's Office in its mission to ensure the fair and equitable enforcement of the law.

As for the Durham County Board of Commissioners: we will make sure that the voters are reminded of their two-faced favoritism of felons in the next election.

FBI, Homeland Security warn of more ‘antifa’ attacks

Some of the antifa activists have gone overseas to train and fight with fellow anarchist organizations, including two Turkey-based groups fighting the Islamic State, according to interviews and internet postings. 

Since well before the Aug. 12 rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, turned deadly, DHS has been issuing warnings about the growing likelihood of lethal violence between the left-wing anarchists and right-wing white supremacist and nationalist groups.

Previously unreported documents disclose that by April 2016, authorities believed that “anarchist extremists” were the primary instigators of violence at public rallies against a range of targets. They were blamed by authorities for attacks on the police, government and political institutions, along with symbols of “the capitalist system,” racism, social injustice and fascism, according to a confidential 2016 joint intelligence assessment by DHS and the FBI.

Ryan asks Trump to hold off on scrapping DACA & N.C. senator tosses Trump a conservative life raft for Dreamers

House Speaker Paul Ryan on Friday gave a major boost to legislative efforts to preserve protections for young undocumented immigrants -- and urged President Donald Trump to not tear up the program.

Trump told reporters Friday he was still mulling the decision.

 

Responding to a question about Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, or DACA, on his hometown radio station WCLO in Janesville, Wisconsin, Ryan said Congress was working on a legislative fix to preserve the program.

 

"I actually don't think he should do  that," Ryan said of Trump's consideration of terminating the program. "I believe that this is something that Congress has to fix."

N.C. senator tosses Trump a conservative life raft for Dreamers

The proposal would grant high school graduates without a serious criminal record conditional immigration status for a five-year period. During that time, if they earn a higher-education degree, serve in the military or stay employed, they could apply for permanent residency and, eventually, citizenship.

While the rest of Texas, and indeed, the nation scrambles to send aid, money and supplies to the parts of Texas hit hard by the hurricane; Dallas is concerned only with removing all Confederate monuments, street names, park names and school names. Their latest resolution shows that they would rather spend money on statues that apparently have the power to cause physical injury and mental anguish, rather than helping their fellow Texans. #BoycottDallas Don't spend a dime on anything in or from Dallas unless it is specifically from an open and proud Confederate friendly business. Spending money elsewhere in Dallas is giving money to the Council who wil use it to destroy your heritage.

Watch: Would-Be Gun Thief Shot By Elderly Victim

 

Earlier this month, an armed gun thief in Detroit saw an elderly concealed carry permit holder and presumably thought to himself: easy target.

What that young punk didn’t realize is that although 61-year-old Darius Summers is relatively new to the world of firearms, he wasn’t afraid to use his in self-defense.

Summers was visiting his local gas station on the West Side of the city to grab a cup of coffee when he was confronted by 16-year-old Xavier Futrell.

“I just wanted some coffee, so I walked down here,” Summers told Detroit 4 News.

Obama started his presidency 13 points higher than Trump did, but that has eroded down to only 3 points. In April, I forecast that Trump would be more popular than Obama would be at the end of September.  It's getting close.....and by the end of this month, we'll know for sure...

As white supremacists go, Joey Gibson makes for a lousy one. For starters, he’s half Japanese. “I don’t feel like I’m Caucasian at all,” he says. Not to be a stickler for the rules, but this kind of talk could get you sent to Master Race remedial school.

And it gets worse. The founder of Patriot Prayer—a Vancouver, Wash.-based operation that sponsors rallies and marches promoting freedom and First Amendment rights along with all-purpose unity—also spews hippie-dippie rhetoric like “moderates have to come together” and “love and peace [are] the only way to heal this country.” Joey tends to sound less like an alt-right bully boy than a conflict-resolution facilitator or a Unitarian Sunday school teacher.

Iowa's handout to Apple illustrates the folly of corporate welfare deals

State and local officials in Iowa have been working hard to rationalize their handout of more than $208 million in tax benefits to Apple, one of the world’s richest companies, for a data facility that will host 50 permanent jobs.

The deal will help make Iowa an “innovation and technology” hub, Gov. Kim Reynolds gushed. It will ensure development of a big parcel of open land that otherwise would have remained fallow, local development officials said. It was a bargain, according to civic leaders in Waukee, the Iowa community that will host the data center — after all, Apple will be contributing up to $100 million to a local infrastructure fund, starting with money to build a youth sports center.

We were highly skeptical of this deal when it was announced Aug. 24. In the fullness of time, we’ve subjected it to closer scrutiny. And now it looks even worse.
