The White House held a summit on combating violent extremism this week, so today the State Department asked people on Twitter to share their thoughts on how to combat extremists: Now, of course, much of the response they got wasn’t exactly what they were looking for:

A Washington state florist facing “ruin” for her decision not to support same-sex “marriage” through her business has rejected out of hand an offer to settle a state claim of discrimination against her.

As WND reported this week, Benton County Superior Court Judge Alex Ekstrom authorized the state and the homosexual plaintiffs to pursue the business and personal assets of Barronelle Stutzman, including her home, in payment of damages and attorneys’ fees.

The Alliance Defending Freedom confirmed Ekstrom granted a summary judgment in the case against Stutzman, meaning it will not proceed to trial. A trial had been scheduled for March 23. But the ADF said it would be appealed.

Last month, Ekstrom ruled Stutzman was personally was liable for the claims against her, placing her business assets, her home and personal savings at risk.

The judge ordered this week that the state and the homosexual plaintiffs, each of whom filed lawsuits, could collect damages and attorneys’ fees from Stutzman.

“The message of these rulings is unmistakable: The government will bring about your personal and professional ruin if you don’t help celebrate same-sex marriage,” ADF Senior Counsel Kristen Waggoner said at the time.

Historical Fact: Whenever a government classified a group as a threat, they attempted to eradicate them

Obama emphatically says that we cannot lump Muslims and terrorist into the same sentence, because doing so gives ‘violent extremists legitimacy’.  However, Obama’s DHS has no problem lumping American Conservatives who oppose government tyranny in with separatists and warn that they pose a greater threat as domestic terrorists.

At the occasion of Obama’s ‘Combating violent extremism’ circus – his DHS agency, no doubt under the advisement of the Southern Poverty Law Center, have AGAIN ignored Islamic terrorism and warns instead that “Right Wing” Conservatives as ‘sovereign citizens’ pose a greater domestic terror threat in an official government report issued to law enforcement.

The report identifies  ‘right wing terrorists’ as Americans who ‘reject government authority’.

It is amazing that this government consistently and willfully IGNORES Islamic terrorism, but is so very quick to actually PREDICT that ‘Right Wing” Americans are GOING to engage in terrorism.

Burglar apologizes after being captured, tied up by victims

Not going anywhere: When John Ashton Sr and his son John Ashton Jr found a burglar robbing their apartment last week, they tackled the man to the ground and tied him up until police arrivedĀ

A 37-year-old man suspected of burglarizing an Olympia apartment is now in jail after being tackled by a father and son who lived there.

Police say John Ashton Sr. and his son John Jr. had left their apartment Friday morning, and returned to find the front door broken and the inside burglarized.

"The door was smashed. The deadbolt bent," Ashton, Sr. said.

Moments later, they found the burglar was still inside, emerging from a back bedroom.

"And I turn that corner and (the burglar)’s standing right in the bedroom," John Ashton, Jr. said. "And his eyes light up. Bing!"

"Next thing I know," Ashton Sr. added, "(John)’s screaming over my shoulder, 'he’s here!' "

Police said the burglar apologized at first: "I'm sorry, I made a mistake and I'll get your stuff back," and tried to escape past the two, but didn't get far.

Virginia Flaggers is looking for land in Charlottesville to fly flags of the Confederacy.

The group's action is in response to the upcoming vote by Charlottesville City Council to stop observing Lee-Jackson Day. Virginia Flaggers is asking for roadside land to display flags of the Confederate States of America.

Group members visiting Charlottesville say ending the state holiday neglects an important chapter in Virginia's history, and Virginians need to be reminded of the southern veterans from the Civil War.

Homeschool Children Seized By Authorities to Remain in State Custody for at Least Another Month

Stanley Children

Seven homeschoolers in Arkansas who were seized by the Garland County Sheriff’s Department last month will remain in state custody for at least another month after a hearing over the matter was pushed back until March.

As previously reported, the children of Hal Stanley and his wife Michelle were removed from their Hot Springs home on Jan. 12 following an anonymous complaint.

The situation began in December as a social worker with the Arkansas Department of Human Services (DHS) showed up at the Stanley’s door after receiving a complaint that the children were permitted to go outside in the snow barefoot. The Stanleys assured the case worker that everything was fine, and that the children had plenty of shoes, but had a custom of making footprints in the snow for fun.

“We showed her some of the 200 and something pair of shoes and told her—actually the kids told her—how it was their preference to go barefoot and that it was like a tradition to briefly run out in the snow barefoot and take a picture of the footprints,” Michelle Stanley told reporters.

Who Needs a College Education, Scott Walker or Marie Harf?

Wisconsin Governor and GOP presidential hopeful Scott Walker never graduated from college, and according to such critics as Howard Dean, his insufficient education renders him ineligible for the office of the presidency.

I have multiple degrees, including a doctorate degree. For the last 16 years, I have taught philosophy at an array of colleges and universities from Texas to New Jersey: four-year and two-year, research-oriented and teaching-oriented, public and private, big and small.

Consequently I can assure you, the mere possession of a college degree most definitely does not certify that its holder is “educated.”
