TWANLOC: "The tinder is everywhere, and the gasoline is poured. All it lacks is the spark."

The inestimably acute and prolific blog-commenter Subotai Bahadur coined that acronym and has propagated it across the conservative-libertarian corner of the blogosphere ever since. It has achieved the status of an entry on Acronym Finder, for whatever that is worth. It is shorthand for “those who are no longer our countrymen” – itself an abbreviation for a slashing denunciation of those American colonists who were in sympathy with the wishes of Great Britain by Samuel Adams on American independence, delivered in a fiery stem-winder of a speech at the Philadelphia Statehouse in August of 1776 –
“If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen.”

Sam Adams was a bit of a fire-eater, and the speech must have been magnificent to listen to, for certain of the phrases sound like a tocsin, a war-alarm on the ear. “Ye love wealth better than liberty,” “The tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom,” and “Crouch down and lick the hands that feed you,” which reminds me irresistibly of the establishment media as represented currently. Not to speak of “May your chains set lightly upon you,” – and “forget that ye were our countrymen.”

Yes, that’s the phrase that slashes like an old-fashioned straight-edge razor; clear and cold and across a couple of veins. “Forget that ye were our countrymen.”

  1. There are sparks aplenty! I wonder which will ignite the flames of hot civil war? The makers vs. the takers?
"Forget that ye were our countrymen". Indeed, let their memory be erased.

  2. All of the anger and conflict is being orchestrated by those power masters hiding in the shadows. Keeping all the useless masses angry at each other makes it easy to consolidate power. With liberals, hating conservatives and republicans despising democrats they all fail to see what is happening. Regardless of what happens, half are joyous, while the rest are seething with rage. Neither side sees what is really happening. If your side wins, it is easy to discount any power grab or illegality because it is justified to control the opposition. If you are on the losing side it simply reinforces your sides need to grab power by any means necessary.

All the while, the masses have no idea that both sides are just the same. In addition, they are controlled by the same power elites. I know I sound like I am in tin foil hat territory but there is a real power cabal running everything hidden from view. This cabal has grown and gathered power for hundreds of years. In a world that looks no further, ahead than next quarter’s balance sheet it is easy to overlook those with long view. In a world of instant gratification to imagine a group that plans in decades and centuries is inconceivable and therefore complete hidden. Look back to the 1500s through 1700s and find the true power. Not the kings or queens but the bankers and find several families like the Rothschild’s’ then as now in power behind the scenes.

Hard as it is, lose the anger and look at the world with a new calm. Do not simply see what is happening but look further as to why. The power elites have hated America since the early 1800s. In America, they see the common man thinking and doing for himself not them. In America, they see the common man using their resources. They hate America for encouraging the common man to think he is as good as his betters. For two hundred years, they have worked to destroy America and they see the time is now.

Never ending, ever expanding wars around the globe draining America’s blood and treasure. Encouraging the constant growth in takers with a shrinking number of makers. Putting those in office who will ignore and destroy the Constitution. Now the final tactic is to invade America and over tax their ability to cope with children of the world. We will soon be in a battle not for our way of life but for our very lives.

  3. I have nothing in common with "those people" they are my enemy, sworn and eternal.. They are NOT my countrymen, to call them as such grants them a dignity they do not derserve. We may use common words, but, the same word has a differnent meaning and definition. For the evil they have done, I will not forget or forgive. I pray that God will grant to me, the revenge I seek. Waiting for the day when it will be weapons free.
