North Carolina Legal Australian Immigrant Fights for Right to Carry

Via Michael via NC Renegade

The Second Amendment Foundation (SAF) is supporting the case of a legal Australian immigrant in North Carolina.

This test case will likely result in the removal of the restriction on the issuance of a concealed carry permit to people who are not U. S. citizens in North Carolina law.

SAF won a similar case in New Mexico at the end of March of this year.  In the New Mexico case, Alan M. Gottlieb stated one of the purposes of this action.    From the Washington Times:
Alan M. Gottlieb, executive vice president of the foundation, said the discrimination ruling makes it increasingly difficult for gun control advocates to chip away at gun rights.
“It helps build case law,” he said. “If legal aliens have rights, citizens obviously do, too.”

  1. So lets see...They think its OK for a white guy from Australia to own and CC a firearm. But its not OK for a brown guy from Mexico to do the same thing? How about a citizen of Russia or China? How about Iran? or North Korea? Because if you let one non US Citizen carry , you can damn well better bet that a federal judge will order that ALL non US Citizens can.---Ray

    1. I guess he's the first who challenged it here.

  2. Ironic that he will probably be able to carry in NC but can't even own a gun in his
homeland, Australia. I've got mixed feelings on this. Sounds more like a case the
ACLU would bring, using an Aussie as a vehicle to allow concealed carry for all other
alien residents. I guess I trust the SAF but it makes me wonder.

In the end it comes down to one thing. The right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed so I guess I'm ok with it because if government can ever make a case to restrict gun rights to one group they will soon find a way to extend that to all groups.
