Shades of Vietnam: Raw Video: Iraqis rescued from Mount Sinjar

  1. heartbreaking how people can be so cruel as to kill innocents for some political/religious reason. I can't imagine the way the folks that actually get on the chopper must feel. Part elation at being saved and parts remorse, fear and guilt for the loved one's that didn't make it on the bird. CH

  3. I promised myself that I was through with
the pointless, do nothing, of posting comments
    while our Republic burns.
    However, this footage warrants it.
You all do notice that the door-gunners are US soldiers?
Obviously, US soldiers are no longer operating in an
    "advisory" capacity.
Yeah, you are correct, this certainly "shadows of Vietnam."
The right door gunner has a velcro 4th ID patch on his flight
    helmet.
The left door gunner is also wearing a Unit patch, however
I am unable to make it out clearly enough.
Someone with better eyes needs to ID it.
Give me a fucking break(Iraq has an air force)!

    1. I noticed the door gunner was definitely Caucasian looking, but that was all I could discern. Good eyes! :)

    2. The broadcast version that CNN played constantly yesterday
gave a much better(and numerous) close-ups of the both door
gunners, including the 4th ID patch on DG right and a close up
of Unit patch on DG left.
I would think that version can be found on CNN's website or on youtube.

    3. Thanks and have you heard any mention of what you saw?

  4. Not a word.
I find this EXTREMELY INTERESTING, being
that I am an average blue collar, formerly mud rolling
    and dirt chewing medic.
You would think(all sarcasm intended) that the highly
educated elites, military and civilian, would also easily
    notice what I saw.
However, as I already stated, there has been no mention
of the Unit patch elephant in the room.
So what does that tell you?

  5. A six minute version that was being broadcast constantly
    by CNN on Monday.
Take not of left DG's Unit patch, as well as DG right.
Also, take note of the high speed gadgets and mask attached
    to their flight helmets.
Yes, America did leave lots of gear for soliders of Iraq's puppet
regime, but it was mainly vehicles, rifles and bullets, not swoopy
    flight gear.
In my opinion, based on actual experience from serving in a "certain"
Army aviation unit, I believe those DG's are "off the books" soldiers.
Furthermore, I believe that they are wearing those Unit patches because
their first war zone service may have been with those Units, or in the event
that anything happens to them, army.mil would rather have them wearing
black beret Army patches, so that their presence can be written off as "advisors."
Finally, pay close attention to the working technique of the DG's.
Yes, Hadji has received LOTS of training from our military, but that does not translate into skill.
