J. E. B. Stuart visited the Graham Mansion in Wythe County as a youth. He wrote a letter about his visit and the fine dinner he had as a guest of Squire and Martha Pierce Graham. The Grahams were the in-laws of Jeb's oldest sister Nancy, who married James Pierce.
