The Fall Of Saigon April 30, 1975: 37th Remembrance

Leaving for the NC PATCON tomorrow and won't be back until late on the 30th, so I will put up my yearly, heart felt post. After eight years, the saddest day of my life.

My boss and good friend, Bob Goodpaster took this of me while I was covering a demonstration.  May he RIP and also the American, VNCH and allied troops who breathed their last here.

  1. Have a great time this weekend.

The fall of Saigon has always been a bad point with me as well. A classic example of a political war.

  2. Ah, but I was so much older then,
    I'm younger than that now...

    Thank you for reminding us.

  3. That's 5 months of my life I will never forget. Talega, Camp Pendelton relocation camp. 200 Marines and 65,000 Vietnamese.

    1. I left Saigon on the 25th and took a job at MCAS El Toro, but lived in San Clemente and visited the relocation camp often. Later on I quit the government and drove a cab there and used to drop off Marines at what we called the back gate to Talega as it was cheaper than going through Mateo.
