Chick-Fil-A experience today

Today I traveled about 15 miles from my home in Ashville, Al. to the neighboring town of Pell City, Al. to eat lunch at Chick-Fil-A. I expected the parking lot to be full but to my surprise it had an overflow of people parking where ever they could plus, the police was having to direct traffic as it was backed up trying to get into the place.

So, I went to get a haircut & when I came back an hour later to eat at Chick-Fil-A I never made it into their parking lot as the traffic was still just as congested. I had to eat lunch at Cracker Barrel, I might try Chick-Fil-A again at suppertime.

My impression is an extra large show of support has been shown for a business owners freedom of speech & religious belief.

Billy,

Since Brooksville doesn't have a Chick-Fil-A, my wife and I decided to stop for lunch at the Chick-Fil-A in Gainesville (home of the World Champion "Gators"--you may have heard of them ) yesterday when we were in Gainesville on business. Also, I figured that today might be crazy-full, so I thought it might not be as crowded yesterday.

We arrived at the Chick-Fil-A shortly after noon, and were surprised to see that the entire parking lot was already full, with people driving around the parking lot looking for available spaces, and the line to the drive-through backed up all the way out onto Archer Rd (SR 24) for several blocks. We then thought maybe we could sneak into one of the parking lots belonging to the businesses on either side of the Chick-Fil-A, but we found that other folks already had had that idea too, and were parking their cars and walking to the Chick-Fil-A. Most of the people we saw were families with kids.

One of the businesses next door to Chick-Fil-A is a Sonny's Real Pit Bar-B-Que, and even though they are normally competitors of Chick-Fil-A, they were allowing Chick-Fil-A's overflow to park in Sonny's parking lot to show their support for Chick-Fil-A.

Because the Chick-Fil-A was already absolutely PACKED with people waiting to order, my wife and I decided to eat at Sonny's Bar-B-Que instead. Sonny's is my favorite restaurant anyhow, so it was no big sacrifice for us.

We were amazed and delighted to see the gigantic outpouring of support by the community up in Gainesville for the Chick-Fil-A franchise there. Since Gainesville is the home of the Univ of Florida, Alachua County is generally one of the few places in North Florida that gets a Democrat majority in national elections because of all the students and faculty that live there.

Seeing all the support for Chick-Fil-A, their traditional values, and pride in our all-American, Christian traditions is as heart-warming as the day after the attack on the WTC when it seemed as though, in spite of our differences and the dirty battle for the presidency between George W. and Al Gore, Americans came together and locked arms to once again become E Pluribus Unum to fight a common foe.

Of course, as we found out, our coming together following 9/11 didn't last very long, and undoubtedly the coming together we have experienced in supporting Chick-Fil-A won't last long either, but it is nice to see it happen after all we patriotic Americans have endured for the last 12 years, and especially the last 4 years. I just hope we can be this united in November in throwing the Marxists out of Washington, and ending America's experiment with Marxist Communism.
