Alabama's tax money belongs to the state, not the feds

VERBATIM

While I support the men and women of the Alabama National Guard, I question the use of money from the Alabama Trust Fund to build, maintain or repair armories. The Alabama National Guard, as did all soldiers of other state guards, ceased being state militia's in 1958 when state control was subjugated to federal authority.

For all practical means and purposes, today they are federal troops which are used to augment the U.S. Army. This was done to save the federal government money by not having to support a larger standing army but, still have a pool of troops to draw from. As the feds can activate and send Alabama troops anywhere in the world at anytime with or without the consent of our state let the feds pay for the readiness of their facilities and all other expenses.

If they ever become Alabama's State Militia again, only under the command of our state's government, then and only then will the state of Alabama be obligated to keep up those forces. Alabama's money is our tax money, not the feds.
