A new Cook County Sheriff’s team is
crisscrossing the suburbs to seize guns from thousands of people whose
Firearm Owner’s Identification Cards have been revoked.
More than 3,000 people in Cook County
have failed to surrender their revoked FOID cards to the state. Sheriff
Tom Dart said he thinks many of them continue to possess firearms.
The Chicago Police Department conducts
regular missions to recover revoked FOID cards and seize guns from the
holders, but there wasn’t a concerted effort to do that in Cook County’s
suburbs, Dart said.
“The system is broken,” the sheriff said. “The system revokes cards, but the guns

I DO NOT NEED, OR REQUIRE THE STATES PERMISSION TO OWN A FIREARM!! I DON'T REQUIRE A "CARD" TO OBTAIN, POSSES, CARRY, SHOOT, LOAN, TRADE, SELL ANY FIREARM, 1934 NOT WITHSTANDING....
ReplyDeleteAmerika what has happened to you, what has happened to us (we the people) that we have allowed such destruction of our liberties, indeed of our God given natural rights??
No doubt, the list is long, and has been debated ad nauseum.
How far we have fallen.
DeleteCheck out the comments at the link - I think there's more of US than of Them...
ReplyDeleteI'll vote for that!
DeleteI wonder what confiscators do if the "perp" doesn't have either the "CARD" or a weapon in his home or anywhere else... do they "just walk away" and bid him a good day..??? or does the absense of contraband create an escalating scenario to a full-on home invasion...??? many things to be considered here...

DeleteGood points.
Gun seizure is a huge part of Obamacare. This is the reason for all the data collection and reporting to the Fed. If anyone ever even 20 years ago took any "psychological" drug, ever saw a counselor or made any simple statement to a doctor such as, "some days I feel overwhelmed" they they are deemed unfit and will have their right to own a firearm revoked. I like my doctor but I watch very close what I say. Because by law (Obamacare) he is required to report any such statements.

Wish they would stand up and defund it. Seems like a no-brainer since a majority do not want it.
ReplyDeleteCook county can stew in their own soup. They made their situation, hope they enjoy.
ReplyDeleteNot seeing this BS here downstate. I wonder why?

DeleteAnother of the great mysteries of life..........:)
Going to play devils advocate here, but if their FOID card is revoked for as the article states "Mental Illness (admittedly not well defined), felony, or a protection order, (again not very well defined - could be DV or something else entirely) then the individual needs their card and firearms revoked.
ReplyDeleteIt is no different here in NC. If you commit a felony, you lose your guns. Domestic violence? Lose your guns. Beat your wife or kids? Lose your guns. Schizophrenic? Lose your guns.
So let's not jump on the Sheriff for doing their jobs, perhaps we should jump on our politicians to change the laws. Or are we so possessed with idea of the 2nd amendment that we should allow anyone regardless of circumstances own a firearm?
Mass murderers? Pedophiles? Cannibals? Gacy, Bundy, Chikatilo (were he a U.S. citizen)? Should we allow those folks to have weapons if they were still alive and released from prison?
It's my Natural Right to be armed and it doesn't make a hill of beans whether you are "legal" to own a weapon or not as regardless, they will get one anyway. Same with drugs. A complete waste of time and resources.
DeleteBrock, I completely agree that if someone TRULY wants a weapon. Legally or not!
DeleteBut truly, you would be okay with me if I (hypothetically) told you I had just been released from prison on early parole for the sexual assault, murder (with a handgun), and cannibalism of multiple underage boys; you would be okay with me owning firearms?
It doesn't have anything to do with what I would be OK with, as he will buy a gun on the street before I can say get-go.:)
DeleteTrue, and if I wanted to blow up Shearon Harris there is nothing to stop me even though it is illegal.
ReplyDeleteSomeone on another board summed it up nicely in my opinion. "We screamed for them not to create new laws and to just enforce the ones on the books. They do that, and we yell at them for enforcing the laws on the books."
