Police: 60 year old woman shoots and kills rapist in his 20s

Kansas City police said the woman called 911 about 1:30 a.m. Thursday after she came home to find a man dead inside her home in the 1800 block of East 68th Street.

Police say a woman in her 60s shot and killed a man in his 20s early Thursday morning.

Homicide detectives are still investigating a shooting death at a home in the city's east side near East 68th Street and The Paseo.

Police said a woman called 911 about 1:30 a.m. Thursday. When officers arrived, they found a man in his 20s dead from apparent gunshot wounds inside the home. He was later identified as 24-year-old Paul J. Williams.

Police Chief Darryl Forte tweeted early on they had a female suspect in custody. Police also said they were not looking for any other suspects.

According to police, a woman in her 60s answered a knock at her door and a man who she didn't know asked for someone the woman had never heard of. When she told him he had the wrong house, the man reportedly forced his way inside.

Once inside, the woman told police the man sexually assaulted her.

After the attack, police said the woman claimed the man started to leave the room and she was able to get a hold of a gun she had and shoot the intruder.
