Well, I will certainly keep that in mind - I haven't really tested that much except for my big mouth/typing fingers...there has to be some redeeming factor to getting old, I hope and pray ;)
From my observations of the 90-somethings, there is some amount of reversion back to Jr.High/High School days - just how much do we really change or is our true character just more obvious because we are losing those filters that help us give a hoot what anyone else thinks of us?
So, you are saying we should go find Daryl in more than the virtual sense ;) ? I can only speak for myself who has been in deep hiding for a long time, predictable, reliable, blah blah blah - So, I'll DRIVE !
Did you ever see this movie - Soldier in the Rain. Jackie Gleason and Steve McQueen starred in it. Henry Mancini came to Bowling Green (where I was going to school) for a concert and said this was his favorite tune he wrote - I like it a lot, too. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yqV6W0J8N1Y
if you love lamb, you would like these I betcha ;) I can hardly ever find lamb here for some strange reason. All that is typically available is ground lamb, so I learned about baked meatballs. Pretty simple and none of that pesky stovetop splattering. Michigan is a major lamb-producing state - must all be going to the Middle East. ( Silence of the Lambs....
In the interest of full disclosure - I am drinking some nice wine, reminiscing too much, so judgment is a bit impaired. Hope you don't mind.... so here is another one I liked from that same era: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lLeCB7Kn-VE
Sure remember this, needless to say. I was back in the states until I returned to Vietnam in '73 and stayed until the end. I had a '72 VW camper which I took from California to Virginia for the summer which had a large flower as a tire cover on the front. :) Wow, remember turning a corner in Mississippi and seeing a "Mammy" fishing by the side of the creek, so stopped and had a delightful afternoon. Too bad it's not like that anymore.
I can just picture your van with the flower on the tire cover. I finally bit the bullet and got a new vehicle - it has a one of those tire thingies on the back. In the spirit of Flower Power- Peace Brothers & Sisters -- I need to get something on there soon before I have to go to the Gulag....
http://www.namsouth.com/viewtopic.php?t=19&highlight=park+lanes We used to buy a pack of "Park Lanes" which had been carefully opened at the bottom without damaging the cellophane or wrapper, then removing the 20 cigarettes and emptying them of tobacco. Afterwards 18 were refilled with grass, twisted at the end, reinserted, then sealed at the bottom. We would buy them by the "six pack" which our Vietnamese supplier thought was hilarious! I can still vividly see his smiling face as we would approach with him saying, "Six pack, six pack six pack!" I believe we paid 20 cents US for a single pack.
Well, now that is HOOT: true entrepreneurialism at its finest ;) - Oh, the Humanity - what about "Reefer Madness"??? - I don't smoke anything any more, but a nice little brownie might be good ;) On being BAD: with each passing year, I am finally beginning to understand and agree with your philosophy.
everybody knows you love music, Brock - very apparent from your blog - doubt that anyone would care. Is the October PatCon like the spring one with people sitting around the campfire in the evening? Take a poll ;)
There isn't much color change there, now in Northern Virginia and in the mountains of West Virginia where we go to my military school reunion, the third week in October can be perfect, but sometimes they haven't changed well then.
So October will be a pretty busy month for you, too. I will miss it here in Michigan, which is usually quite lovely, but I will be Down Under where they are heading into Spring ;)
32 degrees here today, ice and snow started to melt - noticed something weird outside the back of my house - massive amount of water dripping down on the ground under the house siding...a broken pipe that froze and now thawed, so no water for however long it takes to get a plumber here. Hooo boy, bring on the getaway car. ;)
I filled a bunch of jugs before I shut off the main water line, so that's good. More snow tonight. They finally cleared I-94 from that 200 car accident - took them 48 hours to open the road again. Some very bad hazardous materials must have been in those big trucks. Still haven't been told much in the news. No wine to comfort me, just some Schlitz a friend gave me for Christmas ;)
Love Hall & Oates (and that beautiful countryside) - never heard that song before - nice car !
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing the good songs that have been produced, but we've never heard.
DeleteSo true - I think that's why Daryl has been jamming in his basement with various musicians -- he still sounds great.
ReplyDeleteI'll post one I bet you saw. :)
DeleteHave you seen this version? Not as pretty scenery, but lots more music...
ReplyDeletehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iToujknDTDY
Yes, but enjoyed it again. Wish I was that young!
Delete;)
ReplyDeleteIt's been a stressful news day, so must have some therapy )
ReplyDelete:) Think I shall also. :)

ReplyDeleteShore' is here also, honey chile', bless your heart.:)
Delete) You made me giggle - thanks!
ReplyDelete:) Grinning.
DeleteAhh - now I feel better ;) Could you please delete my hostile reply on the 60 Pictures post - that was a bit much even for me ... sorry (
ReplyDeleteWeren't nuthin' hostile about it sweetie. :)
DeleteI do worry about my judgment sometimes...well, a lot of time.
ReplyDeleteHell, we can do about anything we want at our age and get away with it! :) One redeeming factor. :)
DeleteWell, I will certainly keep that in mind - I haven't really tested that much except for my big mouth/typing fingers...there has to be some redeeming factor to getting old, I hope and pray ;)
ReplyDeleteI hear that if you make 100, then you revert back to 18, so we better be watching our diet. :)
DeleteWe can even remember and enjoy this:
ReplyDeletehttp://www.legacy.com/obituaries/mercurynews/obituary.aspx?pid=144859158
Should be cause for celebration. :)
DeleteFrom my observations of the 90-somethings, there is some amount of reversion back to Jr.High/High School days - just how much do we really change or is our true character just more obvious because we are losing those filters that help us give a hoot what anyone else thinks of us?
ReplyDeleteVery good question and perceptive, my dear. :) Have to thunk' about that for awhile. :)
DeleteThunker that you are!
ReplyDeleteJust keep smiling and make 'em wonder what's really going on )
well, here I am again....
ReplyDeleteOh my, we should go visit him. :)
DeleteWhat else is there to do???
ReplyDeleteIt would be fun!
Deletehave my glass of wine - can't sleep - so why not !
ReplyDeleteIndeed, wish that would do it for me, but at least I'm not as bad as one I remember who needed a case before he could.
DeleteSo, you are saying we should go find Daryl in more than the virtual sense ;) ? I can only speak for myself who has been in deep hiding for a long time, predictable, reliable, blah blah blah - So, I'll DRIVE !
ReplyDelete:) Doubt he'd let us in the door.
DeleteYou are probably right - my singing leaves much to be desired, too, so that won't help. (
ReplyDeleteYou ought to hear me with no vocal cords. :)
DeleteWell, I hope I do get to hear you singing and dancing around the campfire ;)
ReplyDeleteI'll be sitting sipping another beer while Dixie has marshmallows roasting in the fire. :)
DeleteI guess I was doing some genetic-past thing there - yes, roasting marshmallows sounds much more reasonable. ;)
ReplyDelete:) I'll leave the singing to you. :)
DeleteDid you ever see this movie - Soldier in the Rain. Jackie Gleason and Steve McQueen starred in it. Henry Mancini came to Bowling Green (where I was going to school) for a concert and said this was his favorite tune he wrote - I like it a lot, too.

That's very nice and I don't believe that I've ever heard it. Thanks.
DeleteHallelujah - Hallelujah - Hallllllllelllllujahhhhhh!!!!!
ReplyDelete:)
Deleteone more time
ReplyDeleteNever enough. :) Agreed.
Deletegood night & pleasant dreams
ReplyDeleteTry that again:
DeleteNite, nite, don't let the bedbugs bite. :)
I will try to remember that in the future ;)
ReplyDeleteNight, night - don't let the bedbugs bite ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks and the same to you. :)
DeleteAnother good day on Planet Earth - nitey nite, and don't let those bedbugs bite !
ReplyDelete:) Everyday you wake up is a good day.
DeleteWell said - couldn't agree more ;)
ReplyDeleteIndeed.
Deletehere I am in my kitchen making some lamb meatballs and listening to Getaway Car - Perfect !
ReplyDelete:) Love lamb, but never had meatballs.

DeleteOnly place to go on a rainy Friday night in old Battle Creek ;)
ReplyDeleteCan't get much better, I am sure. :)
DeleteMissed hearing this one )
ReplyDelete:) Thanks and it's on mow., :)
DeleteOne more time!
ReplyDelete:) I was waiting! I guess this song and a bottle of wine will do it every-time! :)
DeleteYou got that right - I should have bought that jug I saw today for 10 bucks ;)
ReplyDeleteI just sent you a link to one that you might get a kick out of
Thanks.

ReplyDeleteI talk a lot, but a little jelly jar or two is about all I can handle in a sitting...today it's beautiful out - breezy, 70s, blue sky. ;)
ReplyDeleteNice here also.
Deleteyou have made me want to hear Getaway Car again .... ;)
ReplyDeleteListening to it right now. Thanks, sweetie. :) Ought to post it again.
DeleteI wish I had an old car - '68 or earlier - just like listening to old records rather than cd's - more real, at least to me ;)
ReplyDeleteYes, post it again!
Well, I've got a red '69 C-10, so let's hit the road Jack. :)
DeleteThat's a truck, right? Sounds good to me - never hit the road in a '69 C-10 before ;)

Deleteand away we go !
ReplyDeleteTo the sky! :)

ReplyDeleteWow, hadn't thought of them in years. Thanks. A different world.
ReplyDeleteit sure was - if you look not so hard, they have another version of the same song with some very erotic pictures to go along with the words.. FYI
ReplyDeleteI shall! :)

You ought to see some of their faces when I mention that. :)
Delete:) Never tire of seeing that scene.
Deletewe be bad....
ReplyDeleteI always tell kids to be bad because being good isn't any fun. :)
DeleteYup.
ReplyDeleteas I think about it, you probably don't have any kind feelings towards any of the Crosby-Stills-Nash-Young group - am I right?

DeleteJust about all entertainers seem to be liberals. :)

DeleteDo you have their Farewell Live From Melbourne Tour album?
no, I don't have that album - do you recommend it?
ReplyDeleteYes and I was thinking I could bring it to the PATCON, but that would interfere with the rest, I guess. :)
ReplyDeletethey might like it too
ReplyDeleteMaybe. :)
Deleteeverybody knows you love music, Brock - very apparent from your blog - doubt that anyone would care. Is the October PatCon like the spring one with people sitting around the campfire in the evening? Take a poll ;)
ReplyDeleteYes, the fire is the highlight, I believe. Should I rig the poll.......? :)
DeleteI can just see you now dancing under the Tent! ;)
ReplyDelete:)
Deletewell, you will have at least two votes ;)
ReplyDeleteYup!
DeleteSure do. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteWe haven't been over here in a long time - let's go for a ride!
ReplyDeleteI's ready and listening to Nine Times a Man until that's over. :)
Deletelooking back, you told me about your truck on June 18th ;)
ReplyDeleteWhat year was that........:)
DeleteSpeaking of the world going mad, here is Johnny Winters with some timeless words

:) Funny man.

ReplyDeleteSpeaking of that year.

ReplyDeleteMore power to all of us!!!
ReplyDeleteI am fading ... nitey nite
ReplyDeleteI done, done faded and woke up! :)

ReplyDeleteI needed to take a break from the Blues ;)
ReplyDeleteSounds good to me. :)

ReplyDeleteNo, we only go once every 5 years.
=========
I will be Down Under where they are heading into Spring
Fun!
This is how Michigan looks right now
ReplyDeleteThe colors?
DeleteYes, the colors are very pretty around here right now - but it's been raining and blowing and never got out of the 40s today -- brrrrr
ReplyDeleteThe campfire here is toasty! Wish you were also. :)
DeleteI will hold that thought until May - for now, I am off to the Races (aka NZ) !!! ;)
ReplyDeleteA nice road trip to Brazil - now that really would be heading down South - you're a sweetie for finding such nice tune to make the heart sing!
ReplyDelete:)
DeleteWe could not calculate directions between 319 Holly Ln, Cape Carteret, NC 28584 and São Paulo - State of São Paulo, Brazil.
But looks like maybe 5K miles. :)
Have you ever seen this website: http://distancebetweencities.us/
ReplyDeleteYou are very close - as the crow flies, about 4,500 miles!
Yes, but driving is probably 12K I guess. Couldn't find it that way. Evidently no one's stupid enough to want to drive! :)
Deleteyou should talk to your ferry boat operator ;)
ReplyDelete:)
