80 Acres of Hell

Caught part of "80 Acres of Hell" on the Military History Channel yesterday. WOW! I will never look at another $5 dollar bill (Lincoln's face) without thinking about how the North treated (fu#ked over) the Confederate prisoners of war held at Camp Douglas in Chicago. An eye opener to say the least. This Ex-Yankee has definitely been enlightened. Most history of the American Civil War always makes the North and Lincoln out to be the good guys and the South et. al to be the bad guys.
This documentary should be mandatory viewing by every public school kid to dispel that history and set the record strait on Lincoln.

If you get the Military History Channel, I hope it is on again and that you get the chance to watch it. Just thought this might be of interest to you. Please don't hold my Yankee-ness against me. I have been here in the South for the past 20 years and hopefully shed some of my Yankee-ness. My great grandfather, James Manix, a native of Ireland, came to Ellis Island from Liverpool England aboard the Steamship Campania on August 8th, 1896, 118 years ago. He was a poor Irish immigrant and arrived in New York at age 18 without very much money in his pocket, which is why I have NO intentions of paying ANYONE slave reparations and do not consider myself a full Yankee. My family wasn't even here yet until long after the Civil War.

Hope you find the time to watch this program.

Regards.

Jonathan

  1. The North, like California, will yet burn for those actions. Lincoln & Co. have been burning for many years now. A thought which gives me great pleasure. "Nothing, but nothing happens in God's world by mistake." The Great Law is now taking its solace. Many a good man was needlessly murdered at their hands.

Yes, as well as women and children of all colors.

  2. Jonathan, the Texans have a bumper sticker that says, "I'm not FROM Texas, but I got here as quick as I could." Same can be said of those who may have lingered a bit longer than necessary in the northern climes. My German, Scottish, & Irish ancestors immigrated to North Carolina in the 1700's, but that only makes me geographically more Southern by microns.

Being truly a child of the South has less to do with geographical boundaries and so much more to do with philosophical ones. Pity the North, but despise the Union (and their version of tyrannical slavery to displace the chattel variety).

And I might suggest replacing in your lexicon the phrase "civil war", with "War Of Northern Aggression." Hanging out here at Brock's will help cure that.

    1. I will adopt your suggestion re: proper name for the "war". And this speaks to my point. I was always schooled (up North) to call it the "Civil War". Hence my point that it should be mandatory viewing in public schools. Badger below is certainly right about the winners getting to write history.

In the future I will be referring to the War Of Northern Aggression. Thanks! Have a GREAT & BLESSED weekend. And don't forget to PREP!

  3. I hear people ask how could the holocaust have happened. Yet we have an American President that did much the same thing declared a hero. This only proves history is written by the winners. Our current leaders are again taking America down a dark path. They have combined the worst of Stalin and Hitler into one package and elected him President. The death and destruction caused by Hitler, Stalin and the rest of the modern dictators will pail with what Obama has planned for America. The next few years will determine if America again becomes a country of light under Gods protection or an extension of Satan spreading darkness across the globe.

  4. As I watched the first video and pondered the question about how the German people allowed the Holocaust, the same could be asked about the people of Chicago living near this extermination camp. I am sure there were many who were appalled by the inhumanity, but really - what could they do to stop it? What are we doing to stop the Evil that confronts us now?

    2. Demonize the Enemy into non-humans and then you are capable of any atrocity, even trivializing their destruction.

  5. Jonathan, you and I have been paying reparations for about 50-years now. It is called Affirmative Action.

  6. Does any God fearing man believe that the Almightly will let the FUSA get a pass on the evil that it has done, the murder of innocent lives both here and abroad, the government sanctioned stealing AND the President himself stating that we are no longer a Christian nation. No, there is a day of Judgement coming.
One phrase from the Old Testement that sends chill down my spine is: "and every man did what was right in his own eyes". If either Hitler, Stalin had been modern day liberals/democrats the would he hailed as heros by our MSM. I am a yankee by birth, but my soul is Southern Rebel!
