California state government departments will be prohibited from selling or displaying items with an image of the Confederate flag under a bill that passed the Assembly on Monday.
AB2444 by Assemblyman Isadore Hall, D-Compton, is headed to the Senate after passing on a 72-1 vote. Hall introduced the bill after his mother saw replica Confederate money being sold at the state Capitol gift shop.
He called the image a symbol of racism meant to intimidate.
“Its symbolism in history is directly linked to the enslavement, torture and murder of millions of Americans,” Hall said of the Confederate flag. “The state of California should not be in the business of promoting hate toward others.”

Another chip away at the first amendment. Tomorrow it will be something else, until we have to watch what we say and to whom we say it. I'll be living in Tasmania by then.
ReplyDeleteI don't know what makes those Calif's so retarded, I swear. Too much time in the sun I guess. Communist bastards.
ReplyDeleteMiss Violet
No offense Wirecutter, but you have to admit yall have more than your fair share of commies out there.
Now, you've ruined his day. :)
DeleteA politician with the letter D, from the land of fruits and nuts wanting to banning some thing, as a solution to a problem that does NOT exist: not suprised at all. But at the same time, he has no problem with an organization whos name in english is The Race (aka La Raza) and some folks flying the Mexican flag above that of the USA and would have a significant section of the USA be made a part of Mexico, or hispanics calling for white people to go back where they came from.
ReplyDeleteTheir hypocrisy knows no limits. Truly insulting. Just think, these people wouldn't even be challenged to a duel in the old days, but simply beaten, since they have no honor.
DeleteSo, what is the "Confederate Flag" anyway. Maybe California's legislature needs to do a bit of research. That flag was not one of the 3 national flags of the CSA. The appropriate name for it is "Battle Flag", so I say piss on their law and lets see them enforce it. Lets ship em a whole bunch of Bonnie Blues and Stars and Bars.
ReplyDeleteHopeless California.
DeleteI wonder if they'll do the same with the Mexican flag, but I seriously doubt it, it'd offend too many illegal aliens........
ReplyDeleteDamn, if that don't take the cake. :)
