When cops make mistakes, people get hurt. When cops make mistakes people can have their lives ruined. An arrest on your record can prevent you from passing a security clearance or being hired to a job, even if that arrest was erroneous. Here is a case of literal mistaken identity. The cops had the wrong guy and give him about half a second to comply to their rousting orders. When the man doesn’t immediately do exactly what they tell him to do, they taser him, throw him to the ground and cuff him. Then when they check his identification and find out it is their mistake and they had no reason to stop the man in the first place, they arrest him for resisting arrest. In what other job can you make a mistake, assault an innocent man, then charge that innocent man with a crime in an incident that occurred entirely because of your mistake?

I would garnish those cops' wages to pay back the $270,000 court award - the taxpayers deserve no less, and that might really get these idiots thinking before making false arrests.
ReplyDeletePrecisely, we need to be able to sue them individually, then this crap will come to a screeching halt.
DeleteNo! Law suits are worthless as a punishment . The police will simply do what the "mountain mafia"(more than 20 corrupt Sheriffs Dep's engaged in organized crime.) did when people tried to use the "law" and the courts to fight police corruption. They went to the homes of their victims and killed them- every man woman and child. and they got away with it.(only about 10% of the crooked cops were prosecuted ) There is only one way to stop this. It only remains to be seen if the people will have the guts to use it
ReplyDeleteThe settlement comes out of Joe Citizens wallet. The badgemonkeys received NO punishment and nothing changes. Wake up America....the boys with badges are the
