Republican calls out reporter, gets kicked out the door

An Oregan Republican candidate for U.S. Senate is getting a lot of valuable free name recognition after a video of his highly unsuccessful endorsement interview with a Portland alternative newspaper has gone viral.

Mark Callahan recently joined other Senate candidates, hoping to win the chance to unseat Democrat incumbent Jeff Merkley, at the offices of the Willamette Week to, in the paper’s words, “explore questions that we think matter most to our readers.”

Oregon’s primary election is May 20.

As one of Callahan’s opponents, Republican Joe Rae Perkins – who was not present at the meeting but responding to questions by speaker phone – was answering a question, Callahan noticed a Willamette Weekly reporter, Nigel Jaquiss, writing “blah blah blah blah blah” on his notepad, and he confronted Jaquiss.

“You want to talk about disrespect? I see what you’re writing down there. You just wrote down ‘blah blah blah blah blah’ for everything that Joe Rae said. Joe Rae is a respectable woman. Why are you not respecting her by writing ‘blah blah blah blah blah’ on your notepad?” said an agitated Callahan, pointing his finger across the table.

  1. Good for Callahan, the video says a lot about the various people in the room. Most of these types of en masse interviews are delineated by party affiliation, and it doesn't look good that the candidates sat there meekly (of course imho 99.9% of pols are weak and pitiful, until they have "The POWER.")
And from the first few words of the only other pol to speak, he sounded like he was about to start simpering and equivocating.

    1. He might go places with his authoritative, clear voice, good appearance and not believing in Global Warming is his strong suit! :)

  2. If I had been one of the other candidates in the room I would have walked out with him....... even if I didn't agree with him. Folks have got to start standing up against
    the forth estate.
