- Estimated that out of 2,124 produced only 35 convertibles have a 4-speed transmission

- $200,000 spent on restoration, including $42,000 on NOS parts and $40,000 in paint and bodywork

  1. Even if I had the money I should never buy a car like this. It would be sacrilege for what I would do to it. Cool as it is I grew up with these cars. To me they are not that special they are meant to be driven. That is exactly what I would do. Drive the hell out of it as it was meant to be driven. It is sad to see them as trailer queens. They were born to be used and abused not set on a pedestal and just looked at. That is a sad end to what they were.

    1. Absolutely. I took my '65 Hi-Po to the dealer complaining of a steering problem and they found the body had shifted off the frame. Evidently from one too many power shifts. :) The carpet reeked of spilled bourbon always, but what a life.
