NC: Future shock? Sen. Michelle Obama, D-N.C.

Why is the first family buying a home in Asheville, North Carolina? Do they like the weather there more than Hawaii?

Or could there be a post-presidency political motivation for the Obamas similar to the one that saw Bill and Hillary Clinton relocate to New York?

At least one well-placed source – and all kinds of scuttlebutt – suggest the latter. Residency in North Carolina is a pre-requisite to the launch of Michelle Obama’s political career.

Specifically, the smart money says, Michelle is likely to seek a Senate seat, the one currently held by Republican Richard Burr, who is retiring in 2016.

Republicans believe Democrats will want to run a high-profile candidate to try to capture the open seat – and who could be higher than someone named Obama?

    1. Maybe if we all keep repeating it, the PTB will change their minds. Go up north where you will be appreciated.

  5. I'm quite sure she and Bo Rock find Asheville to be a very pleasant community.
Apparently they haven't ventured out into the rest of the NC Mountains.
For some reason when I think of Barry and Michelle enjoying the beauty of the
Appalachians the song Dueling Banjoes keeps popping in my mind. Can't imagine why.

  6. According to the local Asheville news, they cannot find anything to support this
POS's home purchase. Of course, this can be done by some unknown buying
a parcel for them. Believe it or not, Asheville, twenty-five yrs. ago was a really
nice place to live: quiet, traditional, affordable, sparse populace, salt of the earth
types. Now, it is a liberal slum.

    1. Well, let us hope it is not true. I understand that once you get away from the city it is good country.

  7. It is spreading out all around Asheville, all the smaller townships i.e. Leicester,
Alexander, Brevard, Marshall, Mars Hill, Burnsville. It use to be certain people
did not enter Madison Cnty, not so any more. High crime, gangs, pedophile haven,
congestion, drugs, constant construction with the removal of the old original buildings.
Really sad to see a whole way of life desecrated.
