Holy crap that's a big fish. Do they kill them before putting them in the boat? Because I about got tossed overboard by a catfish once I would hate to go aginst a marlin
ReplyDelete:) Good question. How big was the catfish?
DeleteThey come in the boat live. Several years back in that same tournament a boat hooked what was probably the biggest Blue Marlin ever hooked in the tournament history. When they pull the fish in the boat they do it by grabbing the wire leader running from the hook to the fishing line. There is a certain way you wrap the leader around your hand to get a grip. If you wrap it the opposite way you can get a slightly better grip but you can't turn it loose. The fish was so big that the mate decided to wrap the leader the dangerous way. The tired out fish decided to give it one more try at escape and dove taking the mate with him. He was never found. True story.
ReplyDeleteWow! I know there was one in the 800 pound bracket a few years ago. Was that the one?
