  1. I did not know the restoration was finally finished. I remember when the aircraft was parked next to the TN ANG at the Memphis airport. So sad. Drove by it all the time when I worked at the airport. It was moved a couple of times before being returned to WP AFB per the Wiki entry.
On a side note, my across the street neighbor flew B-17s in WW II. He turned 90 last week. Flew his last mission on the day I was born, VE Day. Said he was listening on the radio as they were crossing the Channel when he heard the announcement the was was over in Europe.

    1. Thanks and I bet he is interesting to talk to and should put all his thoughts down.

So far as I know, the Genuine Memphis Belle is still at Wright Pat. There has been a second "Memphis Belle" touring the country for at least several years; I toured this particular craft when it visited upstate New York in 2003 and it was definitely Not Robert Morgan's Belle, Serial No. 41-24485.
