Paging Governor Chris Christie. Please pick up the white courtesy phone.

There’s trouble brewing in New Jersey, as reported by our Townhall colleague Matt Vespa. 72 year old retired teacher Gordon VanGilder was arrested and now faces trial on weapons possession charges. That’s a sad, but not terribly unusual story in the Garden State which remains fairly unfriendly to Second Amendment rights. What gives this story a seriously tragic twist is that the weapon VanGilder was “caught” with is nearly 300 years. old.

  1. Just when one believes that we have reached the apex of absurdity, a new and higher peak, like this one, appears. This event should be a SNL skit or an episode of "People Are Stupid".

  2. NJ sucks. I know. I live in this horrible state. I'm hoping that once my wife doesn't have to stay here for her mother anymore we can move to America.

    1. Bring her along! The parents of the husband of one of my daughters is buying down here. He's a cop in Philadelphia and they are eager to leave.

  3. I will be heading down that way the end of next week to start looking for a new patch. That old fella is right, stay out of NJ. Can't wait to leave.

  4. This trip we are stopping in Rocky Mount, Greenville, then towards Raleigh Durham. We have "driven through" most of them, but need to really take a good look. Any suggestions are appreciated!

    1. Rocky Mount and Greenville would certainly be better than Raleigh or Durham, but you can go from Rocky Mount to Greenville by way of Tarboro. Dixieland is 5 miles outside of Tarboro and Tarboro is a very friendly town. I would check it out if I were you. What are you looking for as far as buying/renting and about how much?

  6. We will be renting at first. Then buying once we are sure the area is right. Right now I'm paying just under $900/month for a tiny apartment up here. She has a mortgage on a condo that she will be unloading (we aren't married and don't cohabitate). I am hoping to keep my income close to what it currently is, and merge our living and expenses.

All that said, I would say we would be anywhere from $900-$1300. Up here that would be cozy, and cozy with some cushion is even better.

    1. $900-$1300.

That's no problem and I possibly have something in mind, but that would be dependent on what kind of jobs y'all are looking for.

    1. Thanks, so I guess you're need to find what areas have jobs first before picking, even if they aren't the ones you like the most. Guess you can research on-line though.

    1. Certainly and the marker is off on the map I sent, but is correct on the PATCON post, although you can come up the main drive in front or on the entrance by the graveyard. You can clean off my gravestone while you're there..........:) http://tinyurl.com/qa4z6xm
