12 Bad Strategies That Will Get Preppers Killed

Via David

If you’re involved in the preparedness lifestyle, you’re probably into planning. Most likely, you research and study the excellent preparedness strategies put out by experts. Whether we prepare for incidents small or large, we all ponder what we’d do if something world-as-we-know-it-ending went down.

The trouble is, a lot of the plans that get made are more likely  to get you killed than to save you. And people post these plans online, then new preppers read them and think, “Wow, what a great idea.”

    Really nice write up.

Buddy of mine made a comment recently while I floated the prepper topic to gauge his position. He indicated he was planning to follow #5 which disappointed me a bit.
Later in the week, while we were at his range, he commented on my consistent ability to ring steel at 100y with iron sights. I chuckled and said 'I gotta prepare for those raiders, man' ;)

Biggest problem I have avoiding the Lone Wolf aspect of prepping is that no one that I'm a-kin to with this, is close by. Lot of the people I know that are of the same mindset are spread all over the local area. Makes it tough to plan for connecting with each other in a true emergency by other means than radios. Lot of us have been planning to hunker down for as long as possible in a true emergency (serious social unrest, loss of rule of law, bank runs/financial crash, etc).

There's a young couple 1 house over that would be good to include in a group-of-sorts, but I'm still trying to figure out how and when to float the topic so I can get an honest answer without overplaying my own position. OpSec/PerSec, right? :)

    1. Yes, you really need maybe four families at a minimum considering everything needed.

  2. Left out rule number one: Don't ever tell anyone that you are preparred. Don't show off your guns, ammo stockpiles, or how many boxed of MRE's you have. We know you are proud of it but keep it a secret.

Rule 2: When the govt shows up with free food, water, and blankets, get in line. Your absence will be noticed.
