Amazon restores Confederate items & more

Via SHNV

As soon as Amazon, eBay, and Wal-Mart announced that they were removing the sale of all "Confederate" merchandise Dixie Heritage went to work. EBay and Wal-Mart do not seem to be budging on the issue. Amazon has been open to talking.

A few years ago I had the privilege of meeting Amazon founder and CEO Jeff Bezos. I had his personal email address. So our appeal to Amazon went right to the top. We were told that several groups were also lobbying for the restoration of Confederate items and put in contact with others lower in the corporate structure who were assigned to investigate the matter.

Our efforts, and those of other likeminded groups have been rewarded. Today, Amazon has restored Confederate merchandise. You can go to Amazon.com and type in "Confederate Flag" and a lot will come up.

Both eBay and Amazon are managed by folks in the Pacific Northwest. They simply do not understand how important Southern Heritage is to us Southerners. We want to let the folks at Amazon know that Southerners are a LARGE group and we cherish our heritage. Amazon and eBay talk. If Amazon sees a large surge in sales of heritage related items eBay will follow.

That is why we are putting out this week's newsletter a day early.

Amazon restored Confederate merchandise without fanfare, or even an announcement. They are doing it quietly. So let’s get busy showing our appreciation before our enemies get vocal. Let our Southern money outshout the liberal yankee lip flapping.

To help with that, I have lowered the prices on my items at Amazon. After printing cost and Amazon fees I will lose money on several items. But that’s OK. It is an honor and a privilege to advance the cause!

Here are some links to some great heritage items at Amazon. Just click on them:

SOUTHERN BAPTISTS RE-FIRE DEBATE OVER SOUTHERN HERITAGE

I do not know what happened. But I am reminded that God is in control of all things. Remember last week that I had reported that the North Carolina State paper was late in publishing my response to the attacks against our heritage and ancestors by high-ranking Southern Baptists. Had they published my reply when I had submitted it most likely it would have been lost in all the type over the ruling on "gay marriage." Instead, the late printing put it in a "dead" news cycle so it generated a LOT of reaction. So much that the editor of the Baptist News Global wire service decided to "turn the table" back in favor of our critics by subtly attacking me. To read the article, click this link:

So this week my email and telephone have been pretty busy.  I am getting a LOT of calls at the church from people who are praying for me to repent of my "hatred." The funny thing is that these calls are not coming from the people I am accused of hating. They are coming from white liberals. And these white liberals are not calling from up north but from Alabama and Tennessee and Florida and the Carolinas.

I am also getting a LOT of supportive contacts too. A surprising number of them from people up North and from Southern people of color who know that their ancestors were also Confederate soldiers and supporters.

One of the people in the Southern Baptist Convention who has been a strong friend of Southern Heritage is Don Hinkle. He is the editor of the Missouri State paper. The Baptist News Global article quotes him as saying that he has reversed his position on our heritage and therefore so should I. But I just want to report that the BNG article is taking Don WAY out of context.

Needless to say, God has called us to be a voice. Sometimes, like like John the Baptist, that means being "the voice of one crying in the wilderness." Be that as it may, we will continue to raise our voice!

NEW ATTACKS ON OUR HERITAGE

INDIANA: State fair leaders in Indiana sent a letter to vendors this week, asking them to not sell or display Confederate flag merchandise at the event that opens Aug. 7.

NORTH CAROLINA: An unnamed group delivered a petition to Gov. Pat McCrory this morning at 10 am asking him to use his executive authority to halt the sale of North Carolina license plates bearing the Confederate flag.

The petition is reported to have just over 13,000. McCrory said he wants to stop issuing the plates, which have been given to more than 2,000 Sons of Confederate Veterans. But he says he thinks the law requires him to wait for General Assembly approval. At the same time, legislative leaders say it is the governor's decision.

The North Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles received a high volume of requests for the specialty plates in June. Officials said DMV processed about nine months’ worth of orders in less than 10 days. the Governor also has to make a decision on a monuments bill passed this week that has drawn criticism for its protection of Confederate memorials.

South Carolina: Hillary Rodham Clinton praised South Carolina Republicans for removing the Confederate flag from Statehouse grounds but said the State must "dig deeper...Anybody who says we don't have more progress to make is blind."

  1. To have even one more venue available for purchasing of items is a major victory.

    1. Yes and requires humbleness.

The forbearing use of power does not only form a touchstone, but the manner in which an individual enjoys certain advantages over others is a test of a true gentleman.

The power which the strong have over the weak, the employer over the employed, the educated over the unlettered, the experienced over the confiding, even the clever over the silly—the forbearing or inoffensive use of all this power or authority, or a total abstinence from it when the case admits it, will show the gentleman in a plain light.

The gentleman does not needlessly and unnecessarily remind an offender of a wrong he may have committed against him. He cannot only forgive, he can forget; and he strives for that nobleness of self and mildness of character which impart sufficient strength to let the past be but the past.

A true man of Honor feels humble himself when he cannot help humbling others.

  3. Sorry, but I quit WalMart, Amazon, and eBay when they pulled this little stunt. Lord willing I'll never buy anything ever again from them. Nor will ever buy anything from CheaperThanDirt. Nor Smith and Wesson or Ruger for that matter.

I have a long term memory, and I remember the sellouts.
