  1. Gather the kids is #6? :( Harsh Mom :)

In the event of something like this, we'd be hard pressed to get our kid. I'm the closest, but have a brand new vehicle so I'm assuming it'd be toast. I've been toying with the idea of keeping a mountain bike and a metal 2 wheel scooter in the vehicle in order to have transport to get to the kid and then something for them to ride home...
I like her idea of safe houses near or on the way home from school; we have 3 options, but 2 are in the opposite direction from home, but all 3 walkable in short order.

#9, IMO, should have already been done? There's no fkcing way you're going to go shopping after an EMP...cash on hand or not. Major places will quickly fill up with short tempered people freaking out and there'll be fights and looting in short order. I want no part of that.
Prepare for situations like this EMP event by buying and storing things early.
To her credit she calls these places out for just this reason:
"Avoid big box stores, except for, perhaps, the first few hours following the EMP event. It won’t take long before the lawless realize there is no protection for their intended victims. They will likely hit the big stores and malls first. "

I agree with 99% of what she lists in here, but absolutely disagree that these 15 things should be done after the EMP event has hit.
IMO everything on this list save getting home and collecting the childrens, should have long ago been done. I worry that it'll be hard enough to get home and get our kid, let alone go shopping for supplies.

Thanks for the link! I'll check her book out when it ships.

    1. Thanks and agreed, but I thought it would be an eye opener for newbies.
