Bob Evans employees claim Confederate flag cost one his job

"Mr. Townsend,

I just read a report in the Hillsdale Mi  newspaper, that Bob Evans has fired an employee for having the flag in the window of his truck. I will no longer be dining at Bob Evans. I hope you can spread the word on this PC injustice.

Also, I read your blog daily. We live in Ohio but I was born in NC.

Thanks

Vince

How embarrassing as he graduated from my military school Greenbrier although I would also list a classmate who disciplined two VMI cadets for playing a few notes of Dixie after the end of the yearly remembrance of the Battle of New Market.  Don't know which one would win the prize. :)

Wesley Rogers, pictured next to his truck, claims he was fired from the Bob Evans Farms plant in Hillsdale only for flying the flag from his tailgate at work.
"I said it wasn’t coming down, no way,” he continued. “Then they showed me my way out.”
After the Confederate flag received extensive media attention this year as the banner of a racist mass murderer in South Carolina, many of the flag’s faithful stewards remain adamant that it is a symbol of remembrance, not xenophobia and hate.
Now, Wesley Rogers of Hillsdale claims that that assertion cost him his job at the Bob Evans plant in Hillsdale.
“I had the Confederate flag hanging from my truck [in the parking lot],” Rogers said, “and I was asked to remove it” by management on Tuesday.
The termination was apparently preceded by the original complaint on Friday, when Rogers’s supervisors brought the issue to him after receiving an “anonymous complaint” via telephone, according to Rogers.
Reaching no resolution that day, Rogers and his supervisors met again on Tuesday, and they presented the same ultimatum.

  1. That does it - no more pot-roast hash for me at Bob Evans here in Battle Creek. My list is growing of businesses I no longer patronize due to similar PC idiocy - our only peaceful option, to boycott the idiots into submission.

  2. What am I missing here: Douglas County District Attorney Brian Fortner said members of the “Respect the Flag” group violated the state’s Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act and made terroristic threats when their caravan of vehicles bearing the rebel flag drove past a neighborhood party. Remember?

All the vicious gangs out there and these guys get charged for Street Gang Terrorism
& Prevention Act which has never been used until now. I have been complaining
about these vicious gangs for yrs. - it's not guns; it's gangs. These guys are
not a vicious gang. What a screwed-up country.

    1. Totally insane. I haven't brought myself to post the link as it reminds me of the inmates being in charge of the asylum.
