Hawaii signed a bill Thursday to become the first state to enter gun owners into an FBI database that will automatically notify police if an island resident is arrested anywhere else in the country.

Gov. David Ige said in a statement that the legislation is about community safety and responsible gun ownership. He said it will help law enforcement agencies protect Hawaii residents and visitors.

State Sen. Will Espero, who introduced the bill, and the Honolulu Police Department said the measure could serve as a model for other states. However, critics believe gun owners shouldn’t have to be entered in a database to practice a constitutional right.

  1. Gee, a absolutely worthless data base unless you want to go seize guns. No other motive. And an arrest is NOT a conviction., without due process the person has his rights still. Hawaii needs to be let go to do it's own thing anyway, it is beautiful, but a total welfare state and strain on the nation.

  2. Interesting that the first state to try it is way out in the pacific. Hard to back up your brothers that way.

  4. It only of how soon they use that list to confiscate legally owned firearms. The gun control advocates have already let it be known that their ultimate goal is a disarmed public. Again I have to say it the Democratic party is the party of Evil. Was wondering can't we give Hawaii away?

  5. As a fact, ICBM's have made Hawaii obsolete to American interests.

  6. Hawaii was taken by force by the US military when the native
Hawaiians refused to be a US state. This was done for Dole
pineapple for the land. The Queen of Hawaii was imprisoned
by the US. Unfortunately, the Hawaiians did not have many guns to fight back so were over-thrown.

  7. That's right. Lots of liberal/communists living and owning
land on Hawaii. Use to be the most expensive land in the
world. Don't know about now. Communist grandparents of
    Obama for example.
