Large Hezbollah Force is Building on the Golan Border

Via Iver

Hezbollah

A large Hezbollah force, backed by the Syrian army and pro-Iranian Shiite militias, is building up outside Quneitra, just 2km from Israel’s Golan border. The Lebanese Shiite fighters, under the command of Iranian Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) officers, are streaming into southern Syria, armed with tanks and artillery.

Monday night, Sept. 5, Iranian state-controlled media shed light on this movement, reporting that the combined force had “completed preparations necessary for an extensive operation in southern Syria,” adding, “Hezbollah aims to put an end to the presence of armed men in the area close to the border.”

The nature of the “armed men” was not specified, but the goal of the new operation was clear: after evicting the assorted anti-Assad groups, including the Islamic State, holding territory “close to the border,” Hezbollah and its backers planned to regroup on the Syrian-Israeli boundary.

    1. Thanks and I don't get that as Russia is also Syria's ally and would have the say before Iran as to what path Syria would take.

    2. Russia seems to have been forced into a closer alliance with Iran than it really wants.

It's my belief that US foreign policy is badly crafted.

I would prefer we didn't get so involved and that we were less antagonistic to other polities.

It really appears to me that Israel's expansion and Muslim resistance to that expansion is behind much of our foreign policy.

If resettling Palestinians to Iraq, into good homes, allows Israel to grow enough that it finally ceases to expand, finally seeks peace; then maybe the US could begin bringing troops home. Maybe then we could cease empire building.

And I'm not a lover nor a hater of Israel. I just believe it is powerful and the Palestinians are weak. And since might makes right, it's just that the Palestinians be removed if they can enjoy a pleasant life and if lasting peace results.

If you talk with Israelis, they tend to complain the US, other foreigners, interfere too often. What they seem to mean is they wish to further expand.

Many have died, much heritage has been destroyed, all for this expansion. So, I would like for a quick resolution to occur, if possible. But we need resolution, and the US needs to end as much foreign involvement everywhere as is possible.

Similarly, I think we could reunite Korea if the US and China both wished it. I think many of these conflicts are continued, because there are interests that wish them to continue. I would very much like it if the US returned to being a Republic, let other powers police their own neighbors.

      I sense that also.

Guess the mad man would have to go then.

US returned to being a Republic

It died in 1865 and I would love it to, but don't see that happening due to the make up of our 'citizens' now.

  2. I could be mistaken, but I think Iran has the say in Syria.

I'm not a lover of Israel, but I think they're justifiably concerned about Iranian power, post-Saddam. However, I do not like how Israel perceives its interests in the region.

I would like for Israel to reach a deal with Iran and also Assad. Maybe that's impossible since Israel believes it must expand in order to be secure, but these wars are destroying world heritage and ancient communities. Ancient Christians that have survived since Christ are being destroyed.

Real Christians shouldn't find the destruction of the oldest Christian communities to be acceptable collateral damages.

Part of why I love Trump is he promised, at his Liberty U. speech, to show more concern for Middle East Christians. Christian Lives Matter, basically.
