The United States House of Representatives has just passed their version of the 2018 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), and included within it is a provision that will mandate the release of all M1911 handguns currently in US Army inventory to the Civilian Marksmanship Program, for distribution to eligible US civilians. The new bill would overwrite the 2016 NDAA, which allowed for the release of 10,000 of the pistols, but did not mandate it. The text of Section 1064 of the 2018 NDAA is as follows:

  1. If they all look like that then I could see the $1000 price tag - maybe...

But what is going to be available are the mixmaster 1911 that have been rebuilt a couple for times for $1000 and the nice matching 1911's will ht the auction site. I can buy a series 80 in stainless in any of the available calibers with the competition barrel for a little less than $900 out the door. I will pass on the CMP 1911's even though I would really like one.

  2. I think it was South Korea that tried to send M14's back to the US but Obama wouldn't approve it. Time to get them approved for import back into the US. I'd rather have an M14 (used in basic training) than a 1911...but one of each wouldn't hurt. indyjonesouthere

    1. Yes, but the good news is: Garandshttp://bulletin.accurateshooter.com/2017/04/cmp-announces-repatriation-of-86000-m1-garands/

I carried the M1 in military school and the M14 in the Army. I appreciated the M1 more.

  3. Forty years ago the military 45s were a piece of crap, totally worn out. They are probably worse now. Other than for collectability, one would be better off with a newly manufactured 45.

    1. I guess they will inspect them all and price accordingly.
