It was 45 years ago today that Richard Nixon resigned the presidency amid the Watergate scandal. As with every year around this time, there will be stories rehashing the drama that led to this historic event—the first and only time a U.S. president has relinquished the highest office in the middle of his term.Most of those who were closest to Mr. Nixon had their careers destroyed or at least greatly damaged, and several went to jail. Nixon was later pardoned by President Gerald Ford, his former vice president.

Thanks for a great read about Pat Buchanan. He also had a great sense of humor and a easy, ready laugh including self-depreciating humor. He had a profound understanding of history and was a great intellect who could connect with the common folk. Watching some of his speeches during his 1992 and 1996, he exemplified the "happy warrior" leading the "peasants with pitchforks" chasing the barons and knights back into their castles and pulling up their drawbridges. --Ron W

The political establishment was arrayed against him and went after him ruthlessly. Leftist and globlists are united in a pervasive and evil system, i.e., "wickedness in high places".
