In the wake of the scandal of the dismissal of charges against
Smollett last year, a special prosecutor was appointed to investigate
both Smollett’s actions as well as the actions of Kim Foxx and the Cook
County State’s Attorney’s Office.
Now,
the special prosecutor Dan Webb has indicted Smollett on six counts of
disorder conduct for filing four false reports with the Chicago police
“related to his false claims that he was the victim of a hate crime,
knowing he was not the victim of a crime.”
