Neck Hold Used By Minneapolis Officer Was Approved By Department Policy

A problem for the prosecution.

The Technique Is Considered 'Non-Lethal'

The death of George Floyd has sent shock waves across the country, with riots breaking out in several major cities.

The focus of the anger is the technique used by Officer Derek Chauvin.

Chauvin, a 19 year officer, was filmed holding Floyd on the ground with his knee to the back of his neck.

Experts we have talked to have all agreed that the technique is wrong and inappropriate but the findings today have all of them shaking their heads in disbelief.

According to the Minneapolis Police Policy Manual, the restraint used was in policy and it also indicates that training is given to officers on the maneuver.

  1. Then Chauvin was arrested illegally and he should have been
placed on paid supervised leave as is always the case instead
of firing him without an investigation.
Such cowards. We're not talking about the Third Reich, but
a bunch of paid cartoon characters. Bring out the street sweeper
machines or better yet, the gatling guns.

    1. I hope someone has already gotten hold of the training manual. If the manual says nothing about how long you should continue the hold, then the prosecution will have a difficult time.

    2. I don't know. I watched a video from Israel where their
      police do the same maneuver.

    3. Yes, on either side of the neck, just not on the Adam's Apple or the rear.

  2. What killed George Floyd was almost certainly what we call "positional asphyxia", sometimes "postural asphyxia". It occurs when a person ends up in a physical position where they are incapable of expanding the lungs adequately to achieve air flow in and out of the lungs. It is not an instantaneous event but takes time. It can happen accidentally like when a construction worker gets trapped in a trench with dirt packed around them tightly....their face is free and they can talk but they can't expand their lungs enough to oxygenate the blood adequately. As time passes their tissues become more and more hypoxic from lack of O2. Within a few minutes the CO2 and lactic acid builds up enough to send them into cardiopulmonary arrest which almost always ends in death from the toxicity their organs were exposed to due to lack of oxygen. THIS is almost certainly what happened in this case. We had one cop kneeling on his neck compromising his airway. We had two more on top of his prone body making it almost impossible for his diaphragm and rib muscles to expand his lungs enough to exchange air. Over time his blood became less and less oxygenated....at first he could speak and tell them he couldn't breath....and he was TELLING THE TRUTH. They just didn't care. After a few minutes he passed out. Once he passed that point he was in grave danger but they STAYED ON TOP OF HIM for several more minutes....sealing his fate. Once he was prone in handcuffs ANY possible excuse for the amount of force they were using ended. This is about as clear cut and perfectly documented a case of abuse of force as we are likely to ever see. And it clearly meets the legal definition of manslaughter. If ANY of these cops walk it will be proof the system is broken beyond repair.

  3. You know, what kind of bugs me is if Chauvin heard Floyd say he
couldn't breath, why didn't Chauvin release the pressure?
I would like to know what Chauvin has to say but of course that
won't happen. Chauvin kept looking down and would reposition
    his knees.

    1. Thanks. Did you see the piece that stated that the two of them worked as bouncers at a club at night?

    4. I don't know but remember one was inside and one was outside.

    5. One inside, one outside, but it is inconceivable they didn't know each other to some extent.

  4. Watching the video, it would seem that Chauvin could easily see that he was being videoed by someone fairly close. He evidently was unconcerned that what he was doing with the eventful demise of the apprehended perp with whom he was once associated would "go viral". Now why would that be? And who would, or who is, benefitting from the reprocussions? Now, I hear it reported that Chauvin is on "suicide watch". I would think that before any statement to the media or trial he may be "Epsteined". --Ron W

  5. I finally saw the video. There is no way this was the proximate cause of death. His knee is on the guy's upper back and the meaty part of the neck. The guy was talking the whole time until he passed out. One minute later, they let him up and put him on the ambulance stretcher with no attempt to revive him, so the EMTs were either in on it, or they could tell he was breathing fine. This is all just political activism by the usual suspects.
At some point, people should get tired of their national news media lying to them about everything.
