Baltimore Sun Reporter Saved From Mob By Store Owner Armed With Shotgun

On April 27, Baltimore Sun reporter Justin Fenton was saved from a mob of rioters by a Baltimore business owner armed with a shotgun.

According to CNN, Fenton was on the streets of Baltimore and ran toward a location where an officer was reported to be injured by the rioters. He said, “I ran down and got in the middle of everything.”

Fenton said he was “inside of the area [of] Pennsylvania Avenue and North Avenue where a lot of [things were] taking place.” He was near a “cash checking place [that] had been broken into” and he was being protected by “a group of self-identifying Crips gang members.” But he turned away from them to take a photo, at which point he was approached by “a man with a hoodie pulled tight over his face.”

Iran Intercepts Cargo Ship, US Moves to Respond

Iranian vessels fired upon a cargo ship flagged to the Marshall Islands Tuesday morning, forcing the ship to travel deeper into Iranian waters — and setting off another round of tensions between Iran and the US.

Col. Steven Warren, Pentagon spokesman, confirmed that Iranian patrol vessels intercepted the shipping vessel Maersk Tigris around 5 a.m. Washington time. At that time, the vessels ordered the ship to travel deeper into Iranian waters. It is not clear if the Maersk had inadvertently traveled into Iranian territory.

NC: House Judiciary III Committee to Hear Bill That Violates Due Process This Week

 The House Judiciary III Committee is scheduled to meet on Wednesday, April 29, at 12:30pm, and the calendar includes an anti-gun bill that needs to be defeated.  House Bill 801, if enacted, would go beyond current law in requiring anyone with a Civil No-Contact Order filed against them to surrender their firearms for the duration of the order, and prohibit them from even touching any firearms or ammunition. Civil No-Contact Orders may be filed by virtually anyone, not only those in a domestic relationship.

Civil Unrest Has Begun In Baltimore And This Is Only Just The Start Of Something Much Bigger

On Saturday night, the city of Baltimore resembled a warzone as protests over the death of Freddie Gray turned wildly violent.  One eyewitness reported watching the streets around him and his friend “turn into madness” as they left a baseball game between the Boston Red Sox and the Baltimore Orioles.  Car windows were smashed, stores were robbed, chairs were thrown and large numbers of random bystanders were attacked. 

One prominent Democrat claims that those committing the violence were “mainly from out of town“, but how would he know that?  Today, there are approximately 2.7 million people living in the Baltimore metropolitan area.  It is an area that has been known for poverty, crime and drugs for many years, and as racial tensions continue to increase in this country it is a powder keg that could erupt at literally any time.  We got a preview of what can happen on Saturday night.  If this is how people will act while economic conditions are still relatively stable in this country, what in the world is going to happen when things really start falling apart?

A state of emergency has been declared in Baltimore as the city transforms into 'an absolute war zone' following the funeral of Freddie Gray. 

More than 1,000 Maryland police officers, the Maryland National Guard, and 5,000 officers from neighboring states are arriving in the city and the president has been briefed on the situation as violence continues to escalate.

But even as the governor of Maryland pledged the highest level of support available, police continued to be pelted with rocks well into the night.

Fifteen police officers have been injured, many with broken bones, and at least one appeared ‘unresponsive’. Two of the 15 are in hospital in a serious condition. 

As the sun set, flames erupted from a new $16 million nursing home built by a baptist church on the more affluent east side of Baltimore, which has now been burned to rubble. it was due to open in November this year after eight years of construction. Just two blocks away, a housing development was also ablaze. Officials warned the two fires could be a distraction to pull law enforcement away from other locations.

Rioters are looting gun stores, ripping off the doors and passing weapons to people on the streets. Others have stormed check cashing stores, liquor stores and supermarkets. Buildings, including a CVS pharmacy, are on fire.

Rioters have slashed fire fighters' hoses as they try to battle the flames.

From the national news media, you might infer that the death of Freddie Gray while in police custody is generally regarded as an explainable, if tragic occurrence – i.e., no big deal. From the national news media, you might assume that the political authorities and law enforcement agencies of Baltimore had the situation well in hand.

The remains of a German soldier regarded as the world's greatest ever tank ace have been found in a grave the Czech Republic.

The remains of Kurt Knispel - who was the tank warfare equivalent of what the Red Baron was to flight - were found by historians at the Moravian Museum in Vrbovec lying in an unmarked grave for German soldiers at a cemetery in Znojemsko.

After completing his apprenticeship in an automobile factory in 1940, Knispel applied to join the armoured branch of the German Army and was sent in to battle aged 20 in 1941.

With 168 confirmed and 195 unconfirmed kills Knispel was by far the most successful tank ace of the Second World War, even knocking out a T-34 at 3,000 metres.
